the united states is just a handful of tech oligarchs and war criminals in a trench coat
BREAKING: US threatens "devastating" retaliation against European companies if EU restricts Elon Musk's Starlink from the European market, the US ambassador to the EU tells the FT.
He warned European companies they "should be wary that it could happen and it would be very devastating for those companies," given the size of the US market, and urged the EU to keep using US tech.
European policymakers are seeking to reduce their dependence on US technology over the risk of relying on foreign companies for critical infrastructure.
At the same time the US throttled Starshield for Ukraine's military last week. Musk proposed it, Trump agreed, and the Pentagon executed it.
“I’m shocked that the Republicans would stoop this low,” said nobody.
CONFIRMED: "Tommy"—the heckler who tried to gotcha El-Sayed at his Michigan town hall—is not some random guy. He is Thomas Teepell, Operations Director for Republican Senator Josh Hawley until February of this year.
This explains why his "gotcha" targeted the Muslim candidate.
The Handbasket first identified him via his X and Facebook profiles (Detroit) and LegiStorm, which confirms he ran Hawley’s Senate operations until February. Crooks and Liars, Newsy Today, and Lawyers Guns & Money have since confirmed it.
Tommy’s father is Timmy Teepell, a Republican strategist who worked for Bobby Jindal (2004–2011), ran his 2015 presidential campaign, and helped Josh Hawley win as Missouri Attorney General in 2016 and U.S. Senator in 2018.
Christian nationalist ties run deep. Timmy is described as the “most powerful ally” of Sean Feucht, who preaches Christian supremacy. Video shows Feucht praying over father and son. Tommy interviewed on-stage with Feucht at his D.C. headquarters in April 2024.
On October 2, the University of Michigan student paper revealed that America Next—a PAC founded by Bobby Jindal—offered College Republicans $200 to attend El-Sayed’s Flint town hall, boo him, and ask inflammatory questions for viral moments. Nothing happened in Flint; then Tommy appeared in Caro.
El-Sayed disavowed the Muslim Brotherhood on the spot, spent four minutes dismantling the question, and Tommy walked out.
The “gotcha” was on him.
Non-U.S. personnel made up 33% or 1,160 of the 3,621 coalition force deaths in Afghanistan.
Hegseth on Afghanistan:
I was a captain in Afghanistan, and we would go to the headquarters in Kabul, and there would be 50 flags at the headquarters.
It was a beautiful thing to see 50 different countries contributing to the NATO alliance and the ISAF mission there.
Except there were like maybe five that contributed. It was actually closer to one or two that, by the end, were actually involved in kinetic operations.
In fact, the ISAF patch, we would joke that it meant "I Saw Americans Fighting."
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Over 1100 non-American soldiers from 31 US-allied countries were killed fighting in Afghanistan, approximately 1/3 of the total combat deaths.

No one EVER said this!

As I wrote over a year ago, it would only take a handful of GOP Senators to stand up to Trump and grind his agenda to a halt until he ceased his actions against Ukraine and on behalf of Russia. Instead, they tweeted and signed letters that Trump ignored. Do something.

Since the American President announced the energy ceasefire a week ago, Russia has deliberately attacked Ukraine’s energy and oil and gas sectors 76 times. Last night alone, there were strikes on substations in the Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, and Odesa regions. Tens of thousands of families remain without power. Energy workers and repair crews are working virtually around the clock to restore electricity supply. Overnight, the Russians also struck residential buildings in our regions. As of now, 12 people have been reported injured, including two children. Two people have been killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones. This morning, there was a strike on an agricultural enterprise in Volyn. All necessary services are working at the site.
In total, over this past week, the Russians have attacked Ukraine with almost 2,700 attack drones, 1,700 aerial bombs, and 66 missiles, most of them ballistic. The main targets of these strikes are energy facilities – the Russians are trying to cause a blackout. And America should see that Russia is not taking any reciprocal steps in response to sanctions relief or agreements. On the contrary, they take every signal of an opportunity to make money as proof that their bet on war is paying off and they can keep fighting. It is because of this position of Russia’s that the war continues, not because Ukraine is rightfully defending itself. It is Russia that must face pressure for peace to have a chance. Thank you to everyone who understands this and helps.
And yet there’s wall-to-wall TV and radio coverage despite nobody knowing any details whatsoever and interviews speculating wildly about things like — and I’m not making this up — how the tragedy will affect the Alberta referendum.
I’ll take “this is compete bullshit” for $50,000…

So, @elonmusk, journalists & those easily pleased fell for the flying car distraction, while you and the US Administration throw smoke grenades: hide who did what and when - it wasn't me, or I don't know - doesn't cut it. But Ukraine suffers, Ukrainians die. BUT, hey, who cares?
At least Lindsey Graham can rest well knowing that being a Trump sycophant paid dividends.
Oh wait, never mind.
Breaking News: President Trump signed an executive order to exempt Russia from new sanctions legislation that Congress passed last month. nyti.ms/4zDoByS
Someone’s obviously jealous that Canada has more than “concepts of a plan.”
Trump: "I do not want to lose as your representative $90 billion for the privilege of allowing Canada to have a healthcare system and other things that they shouldn't be having"
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
US Census Bureau data put the US goods trade deficit with Canada at $48.3 billion in 2025, not $90 billion. That is US imports from Canada ($381.9B) minus US exports to Canada ($333.6B). For January–August 2026 the deficit was $33.7 billion. census.gov/foreign-trade/…
Differences in opinion aside. It’s very concerning that Musk has such extreme partisan and unbalanced views. I would be very concerned if he were one of my employees. I hope this lack of balanced thinking doesn’t impact his coworkers or shareholders negatively.

A special visitor at The Bugatti Trust today: Joe Saward, author of The Grand Prix Saboteurs.
His book tells the true story of three Bugatti racing drivers who became British-trained secret agents in WW2:
• William Grover-Williams, who raced as “W. Williams” and won the first Monaco Grand Prix in 1929 in a Bugatti Type 35B
• Robert Benoist, Le Mans winner and Bugatti works driver
• Jean-Pierre Wimille, Grand Prix star who ran the Paris Bugatti showroom with Benoist
Working with the Special Operations Executive (SOE) and the French Resistance, their network sabotaged power supplies near Nantes. On the eve of D-Day they also cut telephone lines and put railway lines out of action.
In 1940, Benoist escaped a German patrol by flooring the throttle of his Bugatti Type 57 Atalante. Sadly, Grover-Williams and Benoist were both captured and killed. Only Wimille survived the war.
Joe spent 18 years researching the book. Much of the story stayed top secret until the British Government released the files in 2003.
Thank you for visiting, Joe, and for keeping their remarkable story alive.
