Guys does this emudhra thing mean I have to unfortunately buy new laptops and headphones and maybe a VR headset just to be safe? Safety is my priority not new devices. Also a new iPhone?
Serious positive responses only please.

Fallout of e-Mudhra cert compromise, all indian govt websites using them won't be accessible on major browsers except for Desi browsers. Remember MeiTY browser challenge where Zoho won some award? Building shitty tech & calling it sovereignty is what we do. Desi Tech Zindabad

the emudhra thing is insane when you actually think about it
a private key is supposed to be a number so big no computer on earth can guess it. 116 digits.
emudhra's was 4
not 4 digits. four.
this is india's biggest certificate authority. govt sites, PSUs, banks all run on their trust. and for a year and a half anyone who looked could've forged certs for any website on the planet
a random guy found it on a saturday and had the keys in milliseconds
no hack. no leak. they just never checked their own output

DeepSeek just published the price of a token, and it should make you angry.
From their own DeepInfer docs: 1 cluster serves 155 trillion tokens a day, at $38 of revenue per GPU-hour, and thats at off-peak prices. Their API is $0.30 per million input tokens and $1.20 per million output at peak.
Yuchen Jin did the math: even if they rented B300s at $7 an hour, thats about 82% gross margin. Other estimates go higher.
So cheap AI is not charity and it is not "dumping". At these prices serving a frontier-class model is a very profitable business, if your inference stack is good enough.
Now remember every time a US lab told you that intelligence is expensive. That $200 a month is a fair price. That limits exist because compute is scarce.
Part of that is true. Part of it is a business model built on you not knowing what a token actually costs.
DeepSeek just showed everyone the numbers and gave away the engine. Every inference company can now compete on price with the same software. Thats how AI gets cheap for everyone.
“A single cluster currently serves 155 trillion tokens/day, generating $38 in revenue per GPU-hour (at off-peak pricing).”
Huge flex from DeepSeek. Not only did they open-source their inference engine, but they also open-sourced their revenue numbers.
They didn't disclose which GPUs they're using here, but DeepInfer supports both NVIDIA Blackwell and Huawei Ascend.
Even assuming they're renting B300s at $7 per GPU-hour, that's ~82% gross margin.

Introducing SKY-001, the first Engineering World Model.
On CAD and BIM tasks, it beats GPT-6 Astra and every frontier model we tested:
-> 51-125x faster
- > 150-210x cheaper
-> Higher IOU than all frontier models
SKY-001 lets you dream a physical object before you build it.
18 months of work. Built by the team out of Maluuba's deep learning lab (acq. by @MSRResearch).
The first ‘AI General Engineer’ will be the backbone for Autonomous Manufacturing.
This guy from Odisha, India, who loved learning Sanskrit, has now created an engineering AI model better than OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra and every frontier model out there.
While the news is to be celebrated and his company congratulated, as Indians we need to feel disappointed that such extraordinary Indian innovators still have to come to the west to innovate.
The ecosystem (universities, accelerators, and funding) and the environment (livable towns, good infra) for such innovation and innovators, while has certainly developed, still needs to improve.
While I'm sure it will in the coming decade, for now, as I have long been calling for, India needs to build a GIFT city kind of dedicated town for tech and innovation in a place with good weather throughout the year.
And also create good incentives for these Indian origin founded companies in the west to immediately open centers in India, sharing back some of the tech they created.

Till 2019, IITs and IIMs avoided faculty reservations at senior levels for "scientific and technical" posts.
Courts also historically maintained that applying rigid caste brackets to senior professor roles could limit the pool of specialized talent and impact research standards.
Then the BJP government in 2019 introduced the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Teachers' Cadre) Act.
Now, we have reservations in IITs and IIMs at all senior faculty positions for all posts including Science and Technology.
Even after the 2019 Act, an internal government appointed panel of IIT directors explicitly requested an exemption from the reservation policy.
BJP government rejected the IITs' request.
Before 2020, engineering colleges (like IITs or local technical universities) focused only on core science and maths.
Now BJP government has changed the curriculum to make it mandatory for all engineering students to complete around 12 credits of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Management during their 4-year degree.
BJP is destroying the education sector like never before. #AntiGCBJP

We, software people, have a weird sense of entitlement!
For years, we built software that automated others' work. Imagine what a New York driver might think about their life when they first see a Cybercab or an FSD-enabled Model Y. Similarly, imagine what a line worker at a German-car factory might think about their life when they first sees an industrial robot.
We always expected people to deal with it and asked them to upskill.
But we are convinced that our work is special. Writing software needs judgment and creativity that we uniquely possess.
Now that most of what we do can be automated, the reality is starting to sink in.
The answer, again, for us is: adapt!

"Our initial evaluation suggested that GPT-6-Astra's score was in the late eighties followed closely by Opus 5.5. But, as we started to investigate the mistakes that the models might have made, the models, especially Astra, insisted that they were right and that it was the expert-supplied answers that were erroneous. When we went back to the experts it turned out, in multiple instances, that that the experts found some subtle errors buried deep inside their calculations. As they revised their answers, Astra's score started to inch up and it finally ended up with 98% (49/50)."

It's sad that very capable people still keep developing this terrible mess.
The docs site is 1.5mb of js. There's a custom spinner to load a new page.
It's all a waste of time, I'm sorry @tannerlinsley. It doesn't matter how much you perfect tanstack start, you will never beat hypermedia, the browser is built around it.
And I say this as a former react query fan. I loved how I could prefetch data in js. The possibility of predicting user behaviour so that the whole website felt like the server was near you.
That of course is a phantasy. Data that you prefetch will always be stale data. Because the source of truth is the server. The moment your app has multiple users that modify resources you have to treat every single query as something that needs constant revalidation.
The closest I've seen this to somewhat work in practice with little code is with prefetching convex subscriptions. But then you are tied to convex, you are tied to websockets, you are tied to huge amounts of downloaded js code that will need to be redownloaded every single time you deploy your app.
But the worst of all, your app will still be slow. And full of spinners.
Tanstack start is an incredibly well made solution to a problem that doesn't exist anymore.
Just use datastar. The web can be way better.
TanStack Start 1.0 is officially stable! 🎉
A full-stack web framework for React and Solid, already used to build millions of apps, from Fortune 500 companies to your favorite tools and weekend projects.

🗞️ if your team is too busy doing their 'normal job' to experiment with AI, you're preparing them to be replaced

In this post, I guess this's the last time I'll say it. AI use is no longer optional if you wish to be employed. What follows is advice for current employees and hiring managers on how to hire in 2026 to source AI-first candidates.
We started this at @Nuplay_AI in April.
Works like a charm. Pretty tough filter to pass though.
i feel like swe interviews could probably collapse into just 2 technical rounds:
• system design (how well can you articulate your ideas, do you actually know how to engineer something)
• onsite project to build a real thing with agents (can you translate your intent into high quality outcomes)
everything else we used to ask is no longer necessary

Mr. Musk, yes, no billionaire should dictate a nation’s policy - Indian or American.
India must welcome competition in satellite internet, from Indian and global providers, whoever offers the most practical and affordable last-mile solution for those in remote regions. In countries with lower per-capita incomes, satellite internet must be affordable too. High subscription fees and equipment costs risk putting it beyond the reach of ordinary households. Connectivity must bridge the digital divide, not create a new one.
India knows our networks and spectrum are strategic infrastructure, not merely commercial assets. India’s national security safeguards are non-negotiable.
Every country makes choices based on its own interests. Those in the West cannot preach free markets while practicing protectionism at home. USA imposed 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs to protect its domestic industry, just as India takes measures to protect its own domestic manufacturers. Both India and the US have restricted Huawei over security concerns. One cannot demand a level playing field from others only when it suits its own agenda.
Indians will internally debate, question and address our strengths and shortcomings as a democratic country.
Take BharatNet, India’s programme to bring broadband to village-level local bodies. We will question why, as the CAG’s 2026 audit report found, the programme is struggling to meet its original objectives. Why were only 33.2% of service-ready Gram Panchayats operational, despite ₹39,888 crore being spent? At the same time, we know to appreciate our telecom sector and regulations, which has made internet data among the world’s most affordable, bringing millions online.
India is a democracy, not a colony. We welcome the world, but we, the Indian people, will decide our own future - not Western vested interests, their double standards or any billionaire - Indian or American.

saying it out loud here, at risk of sounding dumb, but this channel/guy is very specifically promoting (read painting target) niche Indian defence and deep tech startups.
It's like painting a sign for acquiring them or poaching their talent to sabotage them.
A Bengaluru startup is manufacturing a chemical the global chip industry can't run without.
@scimplify_ supplies it to semiconductor giants in Japan, South Korea and USA. It's just one molecule in their specialty chemicals + advanced materials portfolio.

Suggesting a grand conspiracy to force satellite internet when local 5G networks are expanding daily is just bored fanfiction for people who spend too much time on the internet.
