So to be clear:
• Trump announced a ceasefire that he hadn’t discussed with either Ukraine or Russia beforehand
• Ukraine nonetheless abided by it
• Russia broke it
• Trump crippled Ukraine’s defence against Russia’s attacks in punishment
SpaceX restricted the operation of the military version of Starlink in Ukraine on orders from the White House, Reuters reported, citing unnamed sources.

Stephen Kinnock’s claim that there were no boat people because we were in the European Union is a straightforward lie. Illegal immigrants flooded in by lorry, train and cars. They disappeared into towns/cities and couldn’t be properly counted. When advances in technology made these methods of transport much harder to use the illegal migrants took to boats, courtesy of the people smugglers. Since the boats are usually interdicted on arrival the counting is easier. Nothing to do with being in or out of the EU.
Cringe. If they had done their job as reporters, they would have told us the size of the "crowds" (apart from the press pack). @KateMansey @thetimes

A man suddenly approaches a group of street musicians and asks, “Can I play with you? I’ve got my pan flute.” When they ask what he wants to play, he chooses Vivaldi’s Winter from "The Four Seasons"—one of the most difficult pieces there is.
And then he leaves everyone around him in awe. On the pan flute, Michel Tirabosco delivers an incredibly skillful performance, with remarkable breath control and emotion. Even though this was a planned flash-mob-style setup, the real talent of the musicians and the pure joy they bring still move people deeply.
A beautiful moment of music, connection, and limitless passion.

There’s a lot of self-serving spin emanating from the UK government about how virtuous it is re fiscal consolidation.
Here are the facts.
Labour inherited an OBR budget deficit forecast of £87bn (3.1% GDP) for FY2024/25. After R Reeves’ 1st disastrous budget the actual deficit was £153bn (5.2%). Massive jump.
Labour inherited OBR budget deficit of £77bn (2.7%) for FY2025/26. After RR’s disastrous 2nd budget that turned out to be £133bn (4.3%).
So in its first two years it added over £120bn to borrowing/deficit (despite huge increase in taxes).
The OBR forecast it inherited for this FY2026/27 was £69bn (2.3%). It is now forecast to be £116bn (3.3%). That looks like an underestimate. More likely to be closer to £130bn again.
Inherited budget forecast for 2027/28: £51bn (1.6%). Latest forecast: £97bn (2.9%).
Inherited budget forecast for 2028/29: £39bn (1.2%). Latest forecast: £86bn (2.5%).
Far from fiscal consolidation Labour is forecast to borrow an incredible £260bn more over the 5 years from 2024/25 than the forecasts it inherited. Despite the tax rises.
Which will continue. Alone among G7 countries the IMF projects the UK tax burden to rise by 3.7% of GDP 2025-31. The only other country with a rising tax burden is France (0.8%). Italy is static. Rest of G7 have falling tax burden.
And let’s not forget Labour’s so-called ‘fiscal consolidation’ is all backloaded to end-decade. Unlikely to happen. So taxes will have to rise by even more.

Now this is bloody funny and sums things up nicely. Look at the signs, shop names and badges for a good laugh . Is this really the UK at the moment .
I think it may be AI ? Just have a laugh , life is too short. #fuelprice #diesel
Burnham lied about Russia and the brexit referendum and now we're supposed to believe him about Fairford and Iran? That's why they let them out on bail, I suppose.

With all its riches, why doesn't Saudi have the firepower to swat the Houthis away? They don't seem to have spend enough on defence. Remind you of anyone?

Sometimes I wonder how @KateMansey puts up with having to report stuff like this. But she must have a great sense of humour to report it with a straight face.

You go to real UK industries like steel, oil, gas, refineries, chemicals, cement, potteries etc & speak to those communities
You will be met with rage and fury at what your Net Stupid Zero policies have done
Then talk to ordinary families who cannot pay their energy bills
Then talk to businesses that cannot invest and grow or survive due to high energy costs
Then you will see & hear the damage you eco zealots have done

2. The US pulls out its B1 bombers from RAF Fairford. As commentators like David Blair in @Telegraph point out, "the most plausible explanation is ... an imminent threat... which they were less than completely confident in the ability of the British authorities to handle."
Penny Mordaunt's claim that she's a team player is for the birds. The only team she plays for is Team Mordaunt.

Absurdly Counter Terrorism chief Vicky Evans claimed the decision to further charge Joshua Kerry ( he was accused of murdering Ann Widdecombe) with planning terrorism acts against Nigel Farage was due to a “ hugely intensive and complex investigation”. No it wasn’t.
Police had the photo of somebody pushing a lit incendiary device through the letterbox of Farage’s London home early last year.
But they failed to push the photo out , closed the case and it was only when the alleged killer of Ms Widdecombe was identified after her murder in July this year - 16 months later- that they put two and two together.
If counter terror and the Met had taken the attack on the Reform leader seriously would Ann Widdecombe be alive today?
A serious question. Not helped by claiming the charge was due to a “ complex and intensive” investigation.

The Sunday Times says billionaire David Reuben, who over 40 years in the UK had made his money out of property, has joined the exodus fleeing Burnham’s hatred of the wealthy and quit to live in tax free Monaco,
Not only do we lose Mr Reuben’s brains and energy, but also we face one other massive problem; Who on God’s earth will fill the tax hole he leaves behind?
The rich are moving out at an increasingly fast pace with the Sunday Times Rich List being dwarfed by the Sunday Times Skint List.
It is estimated the UK has lost £77billion in revenues since Labour’s war on the wealthy. That’s a helluva lot of hospitals.
The tax bill will fall on the middle classes as rich will all bugger off and the skint ( much loved by Labour) don’t earn enough to pay anything.
I see that boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, son of Barry, has also quit for Monaco which I imagine has much to do with inheritance planning.
Dad is in his seventies and has a dodgy ticker.
I want rich people in my country. I like their money which buys big houses and flash cars.
We are swamped by the idle and the skint. Burnham loves them - they vote for him.
But favouring British companies won't be allowed if we rejoin the EU.
Joined up policy making?
