BREAKING: Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has surrendered the keys to Royal Lodge, paying a total of £1.8million bill to his former landlords, the Crown Estate, to cover dilapidations on the property.
Good question...
The police have made an application to allow them to retain evidence obtained through the searches, even though the search warrants were unlawful.
Andrew (unsurprisingly) opposes that and a hearing will take place in private in 2027.
The investigation continues
As we discussed on The Royals podcast yesterday (out now, please subscribe etc etc), getting confirmation that a warrant was unlawful does not necessarily mean that any evidence obtained under that warrant is inadmissible ...

Earl Spencer’s book is full of gossip — but it’s also moving.
Swan Song: Diana, My Sister could’ve been a nice coffeetable book, full of pictures and Diana’s own hand-written notes, but instead he’s used her memory to settle personal scores.
He has described it as being motivated by a sense of “duty” to correct some “untruths” about his sister.
One of the most moving aspects of Spencer’s book, apart from the details of her funeral, which he returns to time and again, and her disastrous marriage to Prince Charles, which he admits was a terrible match on both sides, is the tragedy of Diana’s peripatetic childhood
