By 2028, the average hill farm income will only be 55% of the national minimum wage.
And now the Government is forcing those farmers to pay a huge inheritance tax bill.
This is a disaster for our environment and our nation's food security.
I'll keep fighting for our farmers.

🙄 Farmers across England are facing another devastating setback following the Labour government’s decision to stop accepting new applications for the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) scheme.

'Farming payment cuts will ruin our sons' dream'. A Budget decision that’s had much less coverage than Inheritance Tax - a big drop in Basic Payments that are vital to make farms viable. I met the Staleys who are worried hill farming may soon be history. bbc.com/news/articles/c0rgk0…

There are those who want to stop the upgrade of the A66. See @gazettenewsdesk at thewestmorlandgazette.co.uk/… but I, North Westmorland Lib Dems & Tim Farron support the scheme as it will improve road safety and boost the economy. A shocking BBC investigation has found that millions of litres of raw sewage were illegally pumped into Windermere earlier this year.
Today, I'm putting forward an amendment to the Criminal Justice Bill which could see water company bosses prosecuted for sewage pollution.
Tremendous result for @aw_dem
In Westmorland & Furness the Cumbria Police & Fire election result was: Lib-Dem 14,535 (39%) Lab 12,991 (34%), Con 10,247 (27%). Labour won in Cumberland and overall but this bodes well for the general election. @LibDems @ALDC @timfarron @euromove @WandFCouncil @BandFLibDems

The @cumbnews has an interesting piece on the Police & Fire elections. Not sure a photo of a police officer should've been used. The Police are politically impartial. @Cumbriapolice @CumberlandCoun @LibDems @ALDC @timfarron @euromove @libdemlocalgov @WandFCouncil @BandFLibDems
