Huge thanks to Sir John Rutter (@johnmrutter) for conducting this beautiful performance of one my tunes (published by OUP/@OUPMusic)! And thank you to Cambridge Singers and the @royalphilorch for gorgeous singing and playing. Looking forward to the album!
Out today! The second single from A Cambridge Christmas is Matthew Owens’ arrangement of The Holly and the Ivy. Listen out for the woodwind dancing merrily above the melody – like little Christmas elves!

The BBC first broadcast Choral Evensong on 7 October 1926 in a service live from Westminster Abbey. On the exact date of the 100th anniversary, the programme returns to the Abbey this afternoon for a celebratory service to mark the occasion.
Ahead of the service, composer Sir John Rutter reflects on the enduring appeal of the BBC's longest-running outside broadcast: telegraph.co.uk/radio/what-t…

ALT An elevated, wide-angle shot captures a service in progress inside Westminster Abbey. Two rows of choir stalls face each other across a wide black-and-white checkered tiled floor that stretches toward the High Altar in the background. High stone arches and columns rise above the congregation, with natural light streaming in from the left and a stained-glass window visible on the right. The stalls on both sides are filled with a mix of choir members in traditional white surplices and red cassocks, and congregation members in casual, modern attire. Lit lamps with small red shades are mounted on the wooden ledges in front of the seating. A priest in a white robe stands in the middle of the aisle facing the choir on the right.

If anyone loves singing and John Rutter’s works, and you can attend one of these singing days, do so. I had the absolute best time last week

**HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF ROBOT MUSIC taking money away from real musicians.**
- it has a nice vibe in parts, mashed up and stolen from other tracks.
- none of the transitions have proper human intent - just listen to the ratcheting 'click' at the modulation at 4'30.
- a lazy opportunist has created it from a prompt, and it's gone viral on tiktok because of its 'vibe' - which was entirely stolen from human light music from the early 20thC and mashed up in a different context.
- Such 'mashing up' is happening to music of all genres and historical time periods, and has no respect for either intellectual copyright or recording rights.

This is my favourite photo of @johnmrutter from Monday’s unveiling of Lowestoft’s @BrittenAsABoy statue. A look of pure joy, undefeated by the rain. We are so grateful to Sir John for generously supporting this special day for the town.

The historic and proud moment yesterday afternoon when Lowestoft greeted its @brittenasaboy statue unveiled by @johnmrutter before a promenade full of townsfolk splendidly singing their hearts out, undefeated by the North Sea squall. It was all perfectly Peter Grimes.
