Recently released QS Subject wise rankings make no sense. IIT Bombay and IIT Madras are ranked below Lovely Professional University, SRM Institute, Amity University in research. Nobody in their right mind will accept these rankings!
We should not take these rankings seriously!
Amazing!
In Science, researchers detail a nanoscale-resolution reconstruction of a millimeter-scale fragment of human cerebral cortex, giving an unprecedented view into the structural organization of brain tissue at the supracellular, cellular, and subcellular levels.

Can’t tell if this sounds more like a spoiled 5yo or the princess and the pea. Certainly not a president of a Western country. “If you make him unhappy, he responds unhappy,” Lutnick said of Trump.
Real-world politics is necessarily strategic. Nonetheless, bowing one’s head and treating Trump with deference helps normalize his unacceptable and undignified behaviors. That’s a poor long-term strategy nytimes.com/2025/03/06/world…

I want to make one thing clear. I left @BBCNews last year after covering Gaza for months because I could see evidence accumulating into the robust conclusion that Israel has been committing war crimes & crimes against humanity. 1/4

The phrase was so strange it would have stood out even to a non-scientist.

I've flagged more than a dozen papers on PubPeer by an Editor-in-Charge of a @tandfonline journal *in their own journal* (+ more in others). I'm getting bored, so I've asked the publisher if they want me to continue or not.
Some of this looks really bad. Some could be errors.

This is extremely concerning. The correct response is: (a) class-action lawsuits against the major plastic producers, and (b) degrow the plastics industry.

Institute in question is KLEF. We had flagged it in the list of most retractions last year (KLEF was 10th in the list) : xitter.cf/IRWatchdog/status/1881…
Most important list if India wants to improve its Scientific Reputation.
High time that retractions are included in rankings. Else universities have every incentive to publish as much as they can without caring about consequences.

In my view this is an important article that everybody who publishes in the scientific literature should read. It's written by a stellar line up of "data sleuths" | @AbalkinaAnna | @MicrobiomDigest | @deevybee | @JAByrneSci | @gcabanac | @ClearSkiesAdam | @nickwizzo | buff.ly/3Cr9eBA

Scientific fraud is a growing problem. “You can’t just read an abstract and have any faith in it. I kind of assume everything’s wrong,” a scientist and journal editor told me. Read our deep dive for @ConversationUS theconversation.com/fake-pap…
