Intelligence must draw on memory. The mind must not simply compile data — as an algorithm now does more quickly than we can — but recall lived experiences, which contain depths of meaning that only the human soul can recognize, and connect more deeply with the goodness of these experiences. Everything that is good begins “with the Spirit” and thus possesses a breath, a dynamism and a sense of communion that, once experienced, are engraved upon the heart. vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…

Pope Leo's tweet this morning is profound. Whole books on spirituality have been written on this concept, like St. Francis de Sales "Introduction to the Devout Life" and Brother Lawrence's "The Practice of the Presence of God" (which the Holy Father admires) but the Pope sums it up perfectly.
"There exists a martyrdom of those who offer their lives in a single moment, and the more hidden martyrdom of those who give their lives day after day. This is exactly what all Christians are called to do: to give our lives with love, every day.
"Our age needs men and women who have the courage to do good even when it comes at a cost. Draw close to those who are alone, support those who are weary, and seek out those who have drifted away. Have the courage to forgive, to begin again, and to engage in dialogue.
"Doing good does not always receive recognition and often requires effort, but this is the daily courage of charity. Friendship with Jesus Christ gives us the strength to live this way."

In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

On his return flight from France, Pope Leo XIV is asked about the steady decline of Catholic Church in Germany and the astonishing rise of both the extremist Left and Far Right in Germany.
On the former the Pope says: "The phrase you said the Church is dying in Germany, or the diminishing numbers. People have said that about France in the past and yet we saw what happened over the past four days. I believe that if we find the true missionary spirit and the right way to go about it, there are still many, many people in Germany who want to live and celebrate their Christian and Catholic faith."
On the latter: "we go back to the values of the Gospel, which are not about hatred and division, but they're about understanding and compassion and accompanying. I hope deeply, and hopefully the Church can also be a part of this—that we can find ways of reaching out to a majority of people of goodwill who will understand how important that their commitment, even in terms of participating in political processes, will enable them to make clear choices for the common good and not for extremist ideas that perhaps will do much more damage than we are even aware of right now."

Super Sky Point to Dolly Parton, who possessed a charm and authenticity that made her one of the rarest things you can find in modern times: a celebrity who was almost universally beloved. Great talent, better person and, of course, a timeless beauty as well. #RIP
