Yesterday, I joined the picket line with @NUHW to demand that Kaiser Permanente expand the workforce and improve access to care for patients. California mental healthcare workers need our support! Here's how you can help: nuhw.org/kaiser-dont-deny/ka… #KaiserCrisis

They once asked me what the TL needs. I said safer streets, and that DtD could volunteer for the TLCBD Safe Passage program to help with street safety before and after school. That's the last I heard from them. lol.

Reminder that low turnout elections have a whiter/$$er electorate on purpose. "Yes" votes in DA recall(74K) couldn't win a BOE seat normally (108-175K). Progs need to work on turnout/field to organize BIPOC voters, not rush to move right. #MinorityRule sfelections.sfgov.org/june-7…

I'm seeing higher numbers as returns come in, but still nothing that would win a school board election... sfelections.sfgov.org/june-7…

7/7: The solution may seem simple but we all need to do the hard work. This is a reminder to myself to do better. Together we better engage our communities and fight back the misinformation. Let's move forward and actively listen to voters and show them why elections matter. ✊️

5/7: Last week I talked to a Chinese speaking elder who said she thinks everything seems so negative. I told her that's because people actively trying to destroy our democracy, pit marginalized communities against one another, and never move us forward towards progress.

4/7: What came after January 6 2021 attack on the Capitol, were recalls against Democrats. For San Francisco alone, we now saw the recalls of our Governor, our three members of Board of Education and District Attorney.

Congrats to Silicon Valley VCs, GOP billionaires, and CA real estate industry on spending the most per vote on an election in world history!! 🎉 Their secret? • 3rd of 4 elections in a year • 15% of eligible voting • no spending limit • no candidate guinnessworldrecords.com/wor…

Had to get my car towed. Driver told me that his 26-year-long wife, who he’d known since high school, died in the cold during the 2021 winter blackout. Im never going to stop being angry about that week, and the lack of accountability that followed

the takeaway from Chesa's recall: never underestimate a small group of very rich people and never underestimate how closely aligned media, both local and national, is with wealth and policing

$10 says Breed picks someone after the deadline because special elections mean smaller, whiter, more conservative electorates and a better chance her person is able stay in office without having to face the full electorate.
in which SF has to imagine *another* special election
East Bay voters showed an appetite for criminal justice reform. Despite a high-profile loss in San Francisco, progressive candidates for district attorney and sheriff gained ground in other parts of the state. oaklandside.org/2022/06/08/e…

After the election results recalling District Attorney Chesa Boudin, @sfdefender reiterates our commitment to advocating for system-impacted community members and racial equity, and confronting and dismantling state violence that is endemic to our system. 1/
