Is @Costco the subscription golden standard of them all? @NathCres
Replying to @RyanReeves_
10/ The company has more than 53 million paid members (as of 2019) of which 37% are executive members. This means Costco will haul in about $4.3 billion in membership fees, about 110% of its net income for 2019.

Interesting to see @Fender showcase @Zuora #Subscribed2019 Conference. When faced with declining sales of their epic guitars, they started offering subscription-based on demand learning services. SaaS transformation success story!!

Starting up is the act of doing as many jobs as possible so your company can survive. Scaling is the act of shedding as many jobs as possible so your company can survive.

Words of wisdom from @tientzuo on how VC pitches rarely wow angel investors - and what to do instead #theclimbtoabillion @Zuora – at San Francisco, CA

9/ Angels know their chances of winning are slim. They aren’t about reducing risk, heck they often see it as playing with house money. They are about the pursuit of glory. So if talking to angels, here are some lose/win pitches:

6/ Tiered + overage pricing has the advantage of (i) giving customers choice, (ii) having some level of revenue predictability, (iii) letting you grow with your customers → higher net $ retention (which investors like), & (iv) aligning value to price -- & you with your customer

5/ I personally favor a "tiered plus overage" model, especially for SaaS. Let customers select from a set of tiers that reflect their anticipated usage levels, but encourage them not to overbuy. They can pay overages month to month, or upgrade to a higher tier at any time.
