Journo request for a project I'm working on. Looking to speak to people who bought a house in London in the 1980s on an ordinary income. Not an inter-generational war exercise - more an attempt to provide some genuine reflection into how the city has changed over the decades

Oh dear, some pretty major mistakes made in this @Telegraph article on the Government renewables auction results today. Some mistakes have been spotted and it's already undergone hefty revisions (see below) - but it remains fundamentally misleading. Here's what it got wrong 🧵

Hi @thetimes. One of your columnists, Matthew Parris, writes that PIP is for people “medically unfit to work.” This isn’t remotely true. PIP is a non-means tested benefit to pay for the extra costs of disability. Will your editors correct it? Thanks. thetimes.com/comment/columni…

The Victorian Robert Jenrick: ‘The UK is only one per cent of the world’s transport demand. There’s no prizes for being the first country to build railways and coal mines. We should be working to build modern infrastructure, but not faster than other countries.
Robert Jenrick tells Politico: “The U.K. is only 1 percent of the world’s emissions. There’s no prizes for being the first country in the world to decarbonize. We should be working towards net zero 2050, but we shouldn’t be decarbonizing faster than our major competitors”

Just four out of more than 100 reported sexual offences at Reading and Leeds music festivals since 2018 have so far resulted in prosecutions, according to figures shared with the Observer. By me, for the Observer theguardian.com/society/arti…

‘Yes, bystanders can save women from sexual assault. But I know first-hand that’s not always enough’ Shocking and infuriating to read the experiences of the author of this piece, who having been sexually assaulted on a Thameslink train whilst pregnant, reported with a witness and had her case ruled “not guilty”. In the summing up the magistrate explained how a guilty verdict would have a huge impact on the man’s life, and that as she was pregnant she was ‘in a heightened emotional state and could not be relied on to give an accurate account’. What hope do we have to rallying men to becoming active bystanders to tackling male violence against women if male judges who preside over these cases are openly misogynistic in their rulings?! Once again: BELIEVE WOMEN. ➡️ theguardian.com/commentisfre…

This looks like straightforward incitement to violence. Douglas Murray is just Tommy Robinson with a thesaurus.
"The public will have to go in, & the public will have to sort this out themselves, & it'll be very, very brutal. I don't want them here. I don't want them to live here. They came under false pretences" - Douglas Murray widespread violence youtu.be/OnYW9-2K4HM?si=rCyI…

No journalist would have picked up this story if I hadn’t been in court waiting for another case. Stuart Clough used a different name on the court list (John) and there as nothing to suggest he was a police officer on the charge sheet. Pure luck I was there.
