Trump's wall decimated the borderlands. This disastrous project dynamited mountains, ripped open trenches & left mounds of bulldozed saguaro cactus scattered across wildlife refuges, national park units & wilderness areas. It's time to clean up the mess.wbur.org/hereandnow/2021/06/…

Abandoned Construction Sites Scar Landscape Around U.S.-Mexico Border

President Biden promised a plan for what to do about abandoned construction sites when he stopped work on the previous administration's border wall, but so far has not produced one.

It started with a petrified tree, half-buried in the Sierra Nevada foothills. The site intrigued Greg Francek, a ranger for East Bay Municipal Utility District. He inspected further, and it led to one of the biggest fossil discoveries in Calif. history. sfgate.com/local/article/fos…

The reason the American debate over Israel-Palestine could shift dramatically and quickly is that many Democratic politicians don't need to be convinced that what Israel is doing is wrong. They just need to be convinced that they can say so without hurting their careers

In 70's my first job paid 10k. My first house cost 10k. I was paid the price of a house/yr. Retired earning 60k living in house that cost 360k. My kid's first job paid 20k - his house cost 200k - he's paid 1/10 price of house. That's a 90% pay cut to his generation. 🇨🇦

Remarkable. Cops in many cities have very low vaccinations rates: NYC: 39% Las Vegas: 38% Atlanta: 36% “I hate to sound like I don’t care, but I really don’t,” said one union rep. Citizens, obvi, don't get to choose whether they interact w/ cops. washingtonpost.com/health/20…

It’s only illegal if they get caught, charged, prosecuted, indicted, convicted, AND sentenced to an actual penalty. Otherwise, it’s just another day for them.

Biden recently held an undisclosed East Room session with historians and discussed how big is too big to jam through once-in-a-lifetime historic changes. Their views were in sync with his own: It is time to go even bigger and faster than anyone expected. axios.com/biden-filibuster-a…

Seriously though there’s no more obvious sign of the influence of money on politics than the collapse of tax enforcement.
