Pierre Sage might have been dealt a tough hand, but there's no excuse for us being as bad defensively in game 7 as we were in August.

For me, 7 October is not just a story I report. It is deeply personal.
My father, my brothers and my sisters are still in Gaza. Every strike, every displacement order, every night of fear reaches my own family.
The Gaza I grew up in has been shattered. People I knew are gone. Places filled with memories have disappeared.
Three years later, my hope is painfully simple: that my family can stay on the land we call home.
And my deepest fear is that one day, they may be forced to leave it.
Three years ago, Angela talking about a bill and a government that doesn't end leasehold. Nothing has changed.

Bloomberg just dropped the most disturbing investigation I have read this year, and every AI builder should read it and take it seriously.
On February 28, two Tomahawk missiles hit an elementary school in Minab, a small town in southern Iran. 156 people died. At least 123 were children. The Pentagon knew within hours that it had bombed a school.
The school had its own website. It was labeled on Google Maps. You could see the soccer pitch from a satellite view. You could see the brightly painted walls. Any 12-year-old with a browser could tell what the building was.
The AI system could not.
Inside US Central Command, personnel were using Palantir's Maven Smart System. It is an AI targeting platform running on a $1.3 billion Pentagon contract, and embedded inside it is Anthropic's Claude.
On day one of the war, more than 1,000 targets went through it in 24 hours. Work that used to take a team hours per target got compressed into minutes.
The satellite imagery Maven was pulling from was seven years old. The site was still tagged in the database as an Islamic Revolutionary Guard facility.
The system spat it out as a recommended day-one target. Humans signed off. The first missile flew. Then a second one landed minutes later to hit the people who came to help.
Investigators later found that some Central Command staff had assumed Maven would flag stale intelligence for them. It did not. Nobody had told it to.
Palantir told Bloomberg the government is responsible for the underlying data. The Pentagon's civilian harm mitigation team, the people whose actual job is to catch a target like this, had been cut back before the war started.
This is not AI going rogue. This is the opposite.
This is AI doing exactly what it was built to do at exactly the speed it was built to do it. And a school full of little girls got vaporized because the humans in the loop trusted the machine more than they trusted their own eyes.
I keep thinking about the version of this story that comes next. What happens when the system is faster. When the target list is not 1,000 in a day but 10,000. When "review" becomes a button the operator has three seconds to hit before the next target loads. When there is no human left slow enough to notice that a soccer pitch is not a helipad.
We are not talking about a spam filter mislabeling an email. We are talking about a system that turned a seven-year-old database entry into two cruise missiles landing on children in the middle of a morning class.
A UN-backed panel has now called it a potential war crime.
In terms of children killed, it is the deadliest American targeting error of the entire 21st century. And according to Bloomberg, some of Defense Secretary Hegseth's own advisors are worried that too much public scrutiny of Maven might slow down its adoption inside the Pentagon.
Read that last line again.
If you build this stuff, you own what it does. You do not get to hide behind "the government owns the data." The whole pitch of your product is that speed and integration save lives. When it takes them instead, that is also on you.
I am not against AI in defense. I am against AI in a hurry. Speed is the entire mechanism that made Minab possible. Every guardrail we already know how to build takes time, and time is exactly what the system was designed to eliminate.
So here is the question I have not been able to stop asking, and I genuinely want to know what you think.
If a piece of software helped kill 123 children in a single morning while behaving exactly as designed, what does "responsible AI" even mean anymore?

Pakistan’s ambassador to the UN completely THRASHED Israel:
“Israel is an occupier and a bandit that plays the victimhood card, violates UN resolutions, and practices state terrorism in Gaza and on Palestinian lands.”
Israeli delegation left speechless.

Killings of British aid workers, family’s statement: “The coroner told us today that Colonel Mendel [who ordered the killings], the Israeli military and the Israeli government are going to be made interested persons in this inquest.
“We also have questions for the British government. An RAF surveillance plane was flying over Gaza on the day James died. The Ministry of Defence has the footage from that flight but will not tell us whether it shows the area where the convoy was hit. We think the coroner should be given it.”

Palace may have let in 11 goals in 5 games, but that will drastically improve, and we now have 3 clean sheets in 4.
Chelsea have let in 12 in 5 games, which few people seem to focus on.

It's hard not to be utterly enraged by this.
They stood by while Israel slaughtered more than 20,000 innocent Palestinian children.
They did more than stand by. They were a part of it. They supported the genocide materially and diplomatically, defending it at every step.
They, like all of us, saw constant footage of kids blown to pieces, decapitated, shot in the head.
They saw Hind Rajab, killed in a merciless barrage of Israeli bullets.
They saw Reem Nabhan, "soul of my soul" to her smitten grandfather Khaled.
They saw five-year-old Saly Abu Maamar, her tiny body wrapped in a shroud and cradled by her aunt.
They saw 17-day-old al-Amira Aisham, known to her already devoted family as "Princess Aisha".
They saw Nour Abu al-Qumssan, who lay dead under the rubble as her desperate father Abu al-Qumssan called out her name over and over again.
And it didn't stop them.
The gall. The utter gall.

Two things can be true: NAZA is a crucial documentary evidence against genocide deniers
We live in a frighteningly hypocritical world that applauds Israelis who call out apartheid & genocide while shaming & disbelieving Palestinians who say the exact same words
Like when German Culture Minister Claudia Roth said her applauds at 2024 Berlinale were solely directly at Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham & not his Palestinian co-director Basel Adra who was with him on stage
An Israeli saying genocide & apartheid is "brave" & "extraordinary". A Palestinian using the same words is "radical", "extremist", "propagandist", "antisemite", & "uncompromising"
Palestinian testimonies & evidence are treated as "biased", "exaggerated", "unreliable", until Israelis say otherwise!
We need a former Israeli prime minister to say there's ethnic cleansing in the West Bank for European governments to believe it
We need a former Israeli foreign minister to say that Camp David was a scam & that if he was a Palestinian he would've rejected it, in order to debunk the myth of the "most generous Israeli peace offer"
We need the Israeli newspaper Haaretz to say Israel is torturing Palestinians to death in detention camps for the world to believe what we've been documenting & saying for years
We always need an Israeli to add legitimacy & credibility to our meticulous & impeccable evidence
That shouldn't mean discounting Israeli dissenting voices who speak up; it doesn't mean devaluing the important work they do & the risks they take when they call out their own country's crimes. There's already been a giant wave of attacks from Israeli government & opposition leaders against the filmmakers of NAZA
Shame & anger should be directed at mainstream places who suppress & sideline Palestinian voices while elevating Israelis who say the exact same message
The game is rigged against us. But that doesn't mean attacking Israeli dissidents like Yuval. It should rather mean that we & Israeli anti-apartheid activists should jointly call out & condemn those who set the rules of the game at every possible opportunity until Palestinian voices are heard & believed
What do our people stand to gain from attacking Yuval & discrediting this movie? Activism is about what works, what makes a difference, not what feels good. NAZA is an important & crucial documentary that must be seen all around the world.

This is utterly unacceptable.
Labour said they were going to bring the feudal system of leasehold to an end.
And now it all "very much depends."
Labour have a huge majority. What does it depend on?
‘You didn’t say it “very much depended” in your manifesto, you said you’d bring it to an end...’
@Lewis_Goodall presses Angela Rayner on Labour’s manifesto promise to 'bring the feudal leasehold system to an end’.

Diversity and depth of support are what make football in this country special and however much you supported or mistrusted the Holmesdale Fanatics, their presence was distinctive.
Without them English football is more sterile, less colourful and quieter. That should alarm fans of every club.
Just how bad is the state of modern football when such a prominent group down tools, given Crystal Palace are stronger than ever? @thomgibbs has more ⤵️

The HF were a core part of Palace’s home atmosphere. It was one of the club’s core unique selling points.
Used in club imagery, on TV broadcasts, referenced in commentary. And now it’s gone.
And Selhurst just doesn’t feel the same.
Proper trolling from @limebike. A 30 minute Limepass was £3.99 in London last month. Now we're supposedly saving 61% if we buy one at £4.59.

When you see the quality of Munoz and then look at the other attacking players Palace had in front of him when they won the FA Cup it’s crazy to think that some #nffc fans honestly believe we’ve got a top quality PL squad, we’ve got such a long way to go until we’ve got that
