Jan van Eyck painted The Arnolfini Portrait 590 years ago, and it has been causing debate ever since.
Does it show a newly married couple? Or something more tragic? Who are the people in the mirror?
This is the story of art's most mysterious portrait...

Blaming Suella for the far right turning up at the cenotaph is baseless misogyny.
They are not there because of Suella they are there because of the planned March.
Stop this baseless targeting of Suella.
And instead be honest about the real causes…

Girl with a Pearl Earring, painted by Vermeer in 1665, might just be the most famous and beloved portrait in the world.
But who is the girl?
Well, that's the thing. There was no girl, because this isn't a portrait...

I’ve read heartbreaking books about 9/11 but the piece of writing my brain recalls every year is the bizarre first-person account of the Toronto Star writer who happened to be in New York when the towers came down. Unfortunately for the Star, that person was their fashion editor.

My son is autistic and its difficult to meet his needs. I love my wife and son but hate what our lives have become as we shy away from 99% of any social stuff in fear of it going wrong. It makes me wish he wasn't autistic and I feel like a terrible person for it.

Rosa Bonheur’s “The Horse Fair” was the undisputed star of the Salon of 1853. Bonheur was already an admired animal painter when she submitted this monumental canvas to France’s major annual art show.

The narrative that Uefa are pushing about the late arrival of fans is misleading. Fans were here in plenty of time. It is the organisation outside the stadium that's the problem. Reports of tear gas used outside now. A disgrace that fans - any fans - should be treated like this
Jeremiah Catskill retweeted
Nonsense for UEFA to suggest this is down to fans arriving late. I know LFC fans who arrived at Stade de France two and a half hours ago and have only just got inside the ground. Complete lack of organisation. Dangerous bottlenecks.

Absolutely dreadful organisation at Stade de France. Here two and a half hours early, 1000s still outside. Police herded fans into dangerous bottleneck in underpass. Now gates shut with fans with tickets all stuck outside. Disgrace @uefa

There’s been zero communication with fans btw. No announcement about why we’re still here. Why we’ve been tear gassed or even that the kickoff has been delayed. As abject an event as I’ve ever attended.
