@jboveda.bsky.social 🦋 I probably won't be checking this site anymore. Not politically motivated; it just kinda sucks now.

Beware: I cancelled my X premium weeks ago and it's still trying to charge me. Luckily I had the foresight to use @PrivacyHQ (not sponsored) Please use virtual cards for every subscription so you can take control over companies like this.

As an immigrant, it took me 13 years to become a citizen and gain the power to vote. If you can vote, please do. Use this power in the name of all the people that are striving for that same say in our future together. 💪🙌🤝🫂

This is worth the read. I really don't want this to be true. This is only one side of the story but I'm much more likely to believe an artist than a company. Donato is a paragon of this game and of the fantasy art world. Waiting for a response from WOTC @blakepr

Tiers should be about intent not individual cards. Tier 4 - win at any cost Tier 3 - win, but everyone has a good time Tier 2 - see everyone’s deck do the thing, winning is a bonus Tier 1 - doing something funny/clever/thematic, idgaf about winning I play at a 2. How about you?

I was this many years old when I realized that the whip on the box cover art on Castlevania II: Simon's Quest is a stylized "2" 😲

One of his best. Starts by addressing the most important issue (hate and attacks) then threads a narrow, precarious yet ultimately well-thought out line between the 'hard truths' of the past few days. Thank you yet again, @TolarianCollege!

Yet another day I wake up and feel a bit sick that @goberthicks's sound plan for the bans was voted down and/or overruled. She had the right idea, the right reasons, and the wisdom to spot the errors in what ultimately transpired.

This is what constructive discourse looks like. @Einheijar4040 disagrees with me on commander bans and talked about why. His POV made me see something new I hadn't considered. I still think we should #unbanlotus, but appreciate the two points of view for others to think about.
I strongly disagree with this opinion. Jeweled lotus was a mistake, but the bigger mistake was not banning it immediately. The best time to ban it was on printing, the second best time to ban it is now.

I appreciate this @mtgcommander. However, the lotus ban is an objective mistake. I get not "going back" for subjective reasons, but you did the equivalent of banning Black Lotus in Vintage. Banning JL is wrong. It cannot be played elsewhere. You must turn back. #unbanlotus

Magali showing us how she feels about the Commander bans. (just kidding this has nothing to do with the bans, but wanted to repost art to wash out the sick pall of community vitriol with the fresh scent of beautiful art)

This was absolutely the right approach. @goberthicks showing deep wisdom here 🙌 (also #unbanlotus)

Those doing this to @goberthicks are NOT the Magic players who believe in the gathering. Critique the actions, not the people. It wouldn't matter to me if she WASN'T our voice in the room (she was). They all deserves better than this, folks.
Seeing the comment section of Commander At Home bombarded with nasty messages and threats when the show is one of joy and love was particularly heartbreaking. Olivia pours herself into this game, creating fun videos for you to enjoy and sharing the love of EDH with everyone. In this case, she was our voice in the room. She does not deserve what is being done to her.

Good faith question for @mtgcommander: Is there some way to review decisions in light of new or unforeseen circumstances? We all get stuff wrong at any stage, but usually these things are compounded with no clear plan after the fact. #unbanlotus

It's rare in the world of bans for the artists to speak out; anyone know any other examples in recent memory? #unbanlotus

Highlighting that this decision affects the artists, both to their business and to their fandom. Both @LenaSketchin and @windrune (the two artists for the two versions of Jeweled Lotus) have spoken out about how crappy this is. #unbanlotus

This is another good reason to #unbanlotus, but not the objectively correct reason. The black-and-white mistake is that it makes the card unplayable anywhere.
Replying to @SamuelHBlack
Oh, also, I particularly dislike the lotus ban. There was a time when that was my least favorite Magic card, but I think it does pretty good work at making expensive commanders playable where otherwise cheap commanders are strong.

One take on the bans I haven't seen yet: In Magic, we want to play with cards. Vintage exists to allow cards to be played that cannot in any other format. Banning Jeweled Lotus makes it unplayable anywhere, and THAT is an objective mistake. The rest is subjective.

Mind you, the other criticism is fair (making @windrune sad should be reason enough to unban) but I invite arguments against the reason above not being mistake enough to #unbanlotus

Using today's deck counts and yesterday's lowest prices, I get $197,378,543.08 Which seems... Impossibly high, even if you concede that many of these decks don't actually exist
Replying to @Slick_Jagger_
I'm curious for someone to crunch the numbers on the @edhrec database and, assuming all the decks are owned, non-proxy, in paper, tell us how much value the EDH community cumulatively lost.
