Soft.
A Bo French-Jon Rosenthal debate in Dallas Thursday has been officially called off. French’s campaign confirmed it verbally but has ghosted the DFW Press & Media Club sponsor since then, according to the club. #txrrc

Your credit card rewards are funded by a de-facto tax on the poor.
Rewards are financed by "swipe fees" -- the fee stores pay to banks when you use credit. To offset these costs, stores typically raise prices -- even for low-income customers who tend to pay in cash (and get no rewards).
Thus, the system channels money from low-income Americans to the affluent.
We can mitigate this injustice by following the EU's lead and capping swipe fees. vox.com/politics/506417/cred…

Russia’s current government is evil.
The Ukraine invasion is awful.
Helping Russia is bad.
Few things are as morally clear as this.

It is not, in fact, a good rule of history
A good rule of history: if you find yourself opposing a student movement while siding with the ruling class, you're wrong. Every time, in every era, whatever the issue.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Student movements have not always been on the right side of history. Mao's student Red Guards persecuted hundreds of thousands. Students helped Castro and Khomeini rise to power, and Nazi student groups opposed the Weimar Republic.

I’ve paid my home off, too, but I pay property taxes because it is a relatively efficient way for local governments to raise revenue (reforming local real property taxes to become land value taxes would be better).
“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?”
Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.

Because we think Putin is bad and don’t want him to win his war of aggression against Ukraine. Musk and Trump do not share that view. And it’s an utter betrayal of everything America is supposed to stand for.

If Putin stops fighting, the war ends. If Zelensky stops fighting then his country will be occupied, leaders murdered, language banned, businesses stolen, children kidnapped. That's what happens in Russian-occupied Ukraine.

Is the solution here not to allow Roth investments that aren’t publicly traded?
Roth contribution limits make the stakes of valuation here quite high and difficult for IRS to police.
If it’s publicly traded, hard to play this game.

Thiel had his Roth IRA buy @PayPal shares for a tiny fraction of a penny each: 1.7 million shares for just… $1,700. That's $0.001 per share.
The price was low enough for him to place 1.7 million shares in his Roth IRA while staying below the $2,000 Roth IRA maximum contribution limit.

Met, and interviewed, a lot of world leaders in my time. Few have impressed me more than President Zelensky. He’s a man of great courage, resilience, and determination, and deserves the support of everyone who cares about defying dictators. @ZelenskyyUa

This “$5,000” thing is fooling no one. But it has made one thing clear: Republican desperation at the 1-month-out mark.

If Republicans win the House of Representatives and the Senate in the 2026 Midterm Elections, I’m going to give all adult citizens in the United States of America, $5,000! Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to signing those checks!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This repeats a promise Trump made in September 2026. The US has approximately 250 million adult citizens so the total cost would be over 1.25 trillion dollars. Congress must approve any such federal spending.

Ken Paxton and his allies have spent millions this election cycle on ads that accuse his Democratic U.S. Senate challenger, James Talarico, of helping Chinese investors buy up Texas land.
But before unleashing the attacks, Paxton’s campaign took in $40,000 from donors who work for companies that facilitate the exact kind of Chinese investments he has criticized, according to a review of campaign finance documents by Hearst Newspapers. bit.ly/4yUJN3c

I spent 25 years as an oil and gas engineer. Bo French spent Sunday morning sorting our student section by skin color.
Greg Abbott said Bo French would "wreck" our oil and gas industry. A man who can’t tell a Longhorn from a foreigner has no business regulating anything in TX.
