It’s been a long journey. My first computer was a 286 with a color VGA monitor, for playing Ultima VI 🧙
Thanks very much @JensenHuang! My first trip to Taiwan was in 1985 when I was 20. Compeq (not Compaq 😂) made PCBs for us. This is the hand wired (Jay Bell, RIP) prototype of our first 286 based PC and the actual production motherboard. It was based on a chipset from Chips and Technologies, they were produced in Japan at that time before TSMCs rise. I explained a bunch of this history in #PlayNiceButWin. youtu.be/gkFkIP2gKgY?is=6dgf…

Love these 10 REAS picks.
We’re not curating Verse well enough atm - the homepage and Discord in particular are way too sloppy. The below is a step in the direction of fixing that. We want almost everything you see on the site and in our marketing to be of some kind of interest, and will be personalising things more and more as we learn what you’re interested in. Make sure to follow artists for better recommendations! The goal is to show you: - Work by strong artists - With a good chance of becoming more recognised over time - Whose markets aren’t inflated by speculators waiting for the right time to dump - That are well/fairly priced relative to recent sales and other artists at a similar stage (accounting for differences in output/age etc) - That you’re interested in We’ll do our best to send you great things at great prices on an ongoing basis. Please send them along to anyone you think might be interested in collecting if you think we’re doing a good job! 🙏

$420B OF ZCASH VOLUME LABELLED Zcash is a privacy coin, but most ZEC activity isn't private. Arkham has labelled more than half of Zcash's transactions, including the ZEC the US Government seized from AlphaBay founder Alexandre Cazes. The USG has held that ZEC for 9 years.

ironically this resonates a lot with what I have been thinking this year, since the mandate drama. Here's how I think about this now: Ethereum is here to help anyone protect themselves from evil. Who's evil? That would change based on context and time. In the web2 era, individuals have very little power against corporations; that's why it's easy for evil to succeed package as big corporations and screw people over. Therefore, as crypto natives, we tend to believe big companies are evil because of this asymmetry. As we move to web3, we quickly realize "individuals" can be evil here too: hackers and scammers steal real money too. You can see how it's not just fighting against companies; instead, it's about fighting against evil all the time. If a company can pass the transparency test on-chain, with reasonable control over the service and reasonable fees, I don't see anything wrong with it. It's just how economy works. Ethereum allows individuals to choose exactly whom they want to trust. It's not only useful for individuals, it's also helpful for businesses to break their exisiting trust stack, that has historically centralized power and fueled evil. If corporations all on-chain, we reduce their absolute control, and reduce switching cost for their users, further disincentivize them from going evil. I'd personally love to see more "good companies" onchain, where they can stand the competition. I personally think this a more proactive (and healthy) mentality toward the real tech world, which I'm happy to see @decentrek and ETHLabs going with.
Ethereum really went from 'protect individuals from the evils of corporations' to 'protect corporations from the evils of decentralization' in two generations of builders or less
