The bluesky impersonation account the @NDP used as evidence for “unclear commitment to the NDP” btw
The NDP’s almighty vetters are incompetent. As a reason for rejecting my leadership application, the unelected three person vetting committee wrote that I “expressed an intention to run for the Green Party of Canada” while campaigning for NDP leader. That’s odd. Is a Green Party leadership race taking place? Or maybe I announced early to get a head start on the rest of the field? Of course, I never said I was running to lead the Greens. The unelected vetters source for this claim was a Bluesky impersonation account. Two months ago, YvesEngler.bsky.social stated, “I can’t wait to run for the Greens next. I’m just getting started here.” Three months ago we publicly denounced that impersonation account and tried to have it taken down. It isn’t even a good impersonation account. The profile photo is weird and the account has rarely been used. A post just below the one claiming I was running for the Greens notes, “Zionist cars are following me around Montreal, but I will not be intimidated by these genocidal supremacists.” Still, those who know better than NDP members who is an acceptable candidate used it as proof to exclude me from the race. The vetters sloppiness was startling but, even if true would it be grounds for exclusion? Leadership candidate Tony McQuail has called for a coalition with the Greens. According to a CTV report, it was the main theme of his launch speech. CTV described his proposal as merging the Greens and NDP, referencing the name Green Democratic Progressive Party. On his NDP donation page it says McQuail will “develop a Green Progressive Coalition.” Since he recently resigned as a minister over Mark Carney’s climate criminality, Steven Guilbeault’s name has been bandied about as a potential NDP leadership candidate. It’s doubtful NDP vetters would block Guilbeault if he chose that path. The NDP leader before Jagmeet Singh was a long time Liberal. Thomas Mulcair was a minister in Jean Charest’s Quebec Liberal government for years before jumping to the NDP. The fact that the vetting committee cited a fake account to justify my rejection from the race suggests its due diligence was inadequate. Throughout the vetting process no one from the party called or emailed me to ask for any clarification. More remarkably, when my lawyer sent a detailed, point by point, rebuttal to the vetters’ allegations for rejecting my candidacy the Leadership Review Committee didn’t respond to any of the information provided. They simply stated “After careful consideration, the Leadership Review Committee has decided to uphold the original decision to reject your candidacy. In accordance with the Leadership Rules, the Committee’s decision is final, and no further review will be considered.” In response my lawyer Dimitri Lascaris asked, “You have provided no explanation whatsoever — not even in summary form — of the Leadership Review Committee’s decision to uphold the original decision. Is your email sent to me today at 15:51 all the explanation that Mr. Engler will receive from the Review Committee for upholding the original decision?” They simply responded yes. The national director of the NDP, Lucy Watson, claimed this body was “independent”. Watson told the Globe and Mail, “He exercised his right to request a Review, and an independent Review Committee upheld that decision.” It appears the powers that be in the NDP are obfuscating on thin ice. yvesengler.com/2025/12/14/th…

What could be a better representation of Canada currently than this, the military blowing up a gas well causing a major fire? Militarism, oil and gas, and wildfires: that perfectly captures contemporary capitalist Canada.
A catastrophic blast at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, Alberta has reportedly resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries during a live fire military training operation. According to local sources on base, Canadian Forces personnel had been conducting exercises over several days when an artillery projectile reportedly struck an active natural gas well on the bombing range, triggering a massive detonation. The blast is said to have levelled nearby tactical training buildings, with subsequent fires reaching munitions storage and setting off secondary detonations across the range. The geography and infrastructure; ➟ CFB Wainwright has a documented history of natural gas production, with approximately 180 wells reported on the military property in 2014. ➟ Military range maps identify munitions storage, pipelines and designated live fire danger areas near Peterson Pond. ➟ NASA FIRMS satellite imagery recorded multiple thermal hotspots between Peterson Pond and Jamieson Lake on October 17. Local accounts also describe hospitals activating Code Orange protocols, mobilizing stretchers and preparing for a significant influx of casualties. The reported gas well strike, secondary detonations and hospital emergency measures remain unconfirmed as authorities investigate the incident. Should these reports be confirmed, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved and affected.

I have lived in China since 1995. I saw the poverty with my own eyes. Then I watched it disappear. This chart going viral today tells the story > China extreme poverty: 91.3% in 1984. Zero by 2022. No colour revolution. No IMF lectures. No NGOs. Planning, roads, factories, schools. And the West still calls it a "failed system"….

The revolution will make luxuries available to the masses. This is what the Soviet Union did with perfume, champagne, and caviar; and what China is doing with diamonds and truffles. I will not mourn the monopolists who mock the working class by cultivating a culture where consumption defines worth, while keeping the prize goods beyond reach.

Anonymous submission: Last week, a group of activists disabled the OMNY readers at the BQ Church Avenue station in Brooklyn with an automatic center punch and drill. They opened the gate so people can ride for free, and painted the cameras to protect themselves and fellow riders from surveillance. This was deliberate act of protest against unaffordable transit, hyper-surveillance in predominantly Black and brown neighborhoods, and the MTA's collaboration with the military industrial complex. YOU ARE BEING WATCHED. OMNY records when and where you travel, your photograph, name, DOB, billing address, and other personal details. This invasive tech creates a profile to track your life and travel patterns. OMNY’s privacy policy places no limits on the data it collects about you. EVERY TAP FUNDS A WAR PROFITEER. OMNY is operated by Cubic, a military equipment company making combat simulators. They sell the F-35 fighter jet training system to imperialist zionist entities like israel. The F-35 is a key weapon in israel's genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, and all of the US's imperialist wars, responsible for massacring millions of people. FIGHT BACK. The MTA and Cubic don't deserve your hard earned cash. Take action, smash a reader, jump the turnstile, hold the gate for others. If you must pay, use cash for OMNY cards, and tap yourself and fellow riders in. This makes you all less traceable. Cover your face and identifying features. Always check for police before evading the fare. Remember, contracted security guards have no authority to stop or detain passengers. RIDE FREE, FUCK THE NYPD, AND FREE PALESTINE!

Montreal police are now urinating on and degrading the homeless in their continued war against the racialized and vulnerable communities that they've sworn to serve and protect. The Montreal police currently have an $860 million-a-year budget with an additional $67.9 million billed for overtime in 2026. At what point in time do we start redistributing these funds and give something back to the poverty-stricken people who are being terrorized and abused? cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/…

Meta employees admitted the US corporation censored the Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp accounts of Brazil's left-wing President Lula da Silva in the lead-up to this month's election. Meta also promoted the accounts of far-right pro-US candidate Flávio Bolsonaro. Meta claimed this was supposedly because of "technical issues". But what this really shows is how real democracy is impossible when US Big Tech corporations are used to manipulate elections around the world, to put in power right-wing US puppets who will sell out their country to US corporations and the US government (see: the recent US electoral interference in Colombia, Honduras, Peru, Argentina, etc.) The CIA previously focused on organizing military coups to overthrow independent left-wing leaders and install right-wing pro-imperialist ones. Now it's much easier: Silicon Valley helps the US empire carry out soft coups by manipulating public opinion and interfering in elections.

Two years ago today, Hamas' leader Yahya Sinwar was killed in combat in Gaza –– personally fighting on the frontlines against invading Israeli soldiers. Inexplicably, Israel chose to release its drone video of his last moments. Sitting in an armchair, hooded in a Palestinian kuffiyeh, his right arm blown off, covered in dust from artillery shelling, he resisted until his very last moment –– defiantly throwing a stick at the Israeli drone. In releasing this video, Israel inadvertently helped solidify Sinwar's already formidable military legacy amongst his people. Viewed by Israelis as an arch villain and terrorist embodiment of evil, the Palestinians rather see him as the modern day successor of their long line of resistance heroes, going way back to Izz al-Din al-Qassam himself, and further, in the past 150 years of resistance to Zionist colonialism in Palestine. The images of Sinwar's final moments eerily echoed his most iconic photo, below, in which he defiantly sat in a surviving armchair amidst the rubble of his home, destroyed by Israel in their 2021 aggression against the people of Gaza. The video also blew years of Israeli propaganda out of the water: Sinwar had not been "hiding behind Israeli hostages" or cowering in a hole somewhere, or using his people as human shields. He had been on the frontlines, personally commanding his troops and attempting to defend the southern city of Rafah. Read more in @maureenclarem's contemporary report on Sinwar's death for @intifada. Link in reply.

Today in dystopia, the military-industrial complex is reassuring investors that the wars will indeed be endless.
Asked about the Iran War's effect on defense stocks, Lockheed Martin CEO says: "Investors need to know and understand that this demand is not fleeting — it's permanent."

A very good article by Branko Marcetic @BMarchetich on how close we are getting to the outbreak of a world war. "It’s a bitter vindication for antiwar voices who warned for years that NATO member states were sleepwalking into a wider, more dangerous confrontation with Russia. The question now is what can be done to forestall their darkest predictions." jacobin.com/2026/10/russia-u…

The diesel fuel deal exposes, once again, the chronic failure of the typical expertise on Russia: short-sighted, methodologically nationalist, and tunnel-visioned by liberal teleology. Having falsely predicted Russia’s economic collapse several times in a row, it is fundamentally incapable of analyzing Russia and the war in Ukraine as part of global processes rather than as the irrational idiosyncrasies of the Russian ruling clique. In that perception, Russia is miraculously saved again and again by a deus ex machina: the regular arrival of “white swans,” essentially Putin's “luck,” or conspiracy theories about Trump. The root of this intellectual crisis is the lack of any coherent, rational conceptual framework capable of connecting the war against Iran, Gaza, the escalating political squabbles in the EU and the US as interconnected parts of the global crisis.

Had it not been for Boris Johnson and Victoria Nuland -- who personally forced Zelensky to reject the deal Ukraine and Russia were about to sign in Istanbul in 2022 -- this horrific war that has killed more than a million and consumed much of Ukraine would have been long over.
It is sickening that the USA is now lifting sanctions on Russian fuel, and transparently ridiculous to blame Ukraine for the spike in prices that obviously began with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Putin is murdering innocent Ukrainian civilians every day. The Ukrainians are fighting for their lives. And yet the White House is apparently determined to force American drivers to bankroll Putin’s slaughter. It won’t work and I doubt it will make much difference to the price of fuel. If we want Russian oil and gas back on the world market then let’s end this war - with a free, sovereign and independent Ukraine.

This is shaping up to be an awful winter for Ukraine. I wish proxy warriors across the aisle had listened to the tiny sliver of voices who encouraged diplomacy with Moscow rather than a war Kyiv could never win.
Trump: It’s time for Ukraine to get a new president.

Blowback begins
BREAKING: Ukraine has just struck the NZNP Rostovsky oil products export terminal in Rostov-on-Don and set it ablaze, hours after the US-Russia diesel deal and Trump lifting sanctions on Russian fuel exports. This is a products export terminal, exactly where the diesel would leave Russia under the deal. Ukrainian military sources said earlier today that the Trump administration's attempt to use Russian diesel to lower US prices before the midterms "will bear no fruit."

Gaza is the laboratory for so many of the evils exported to the rest of the world Coming soon to a school near you: AI monitoring of classrooms for signs of “antisemitism”
A U.S. charity in Gaza is worried that teachers at its schools might stray from a curriculum it says promotes peace and tolerance, so it plans to record classroom conversations and use artificial intelligence to flag speech deemed “hateful” or “inciting.” apnews.com/article/gaza-chil…

Deng Xiaoping once said: "Let some people get rich first." meaning that development should be prioritized over and above egalitarianism. The Western corporate media framed this, for the longest time, as "let only a few people get rich." Guess what? Now it's time to give back.
This is the sort of stuff you can accomplish when your country is run by a Communist party
