We're working on something fun..... A way to use your AI subscriptions to build apps that are automatically built and hosted on our infrastructure. It's like Lovable or Bolt but you can use whatever LLM tool/model you want to design and build the application. And you don't have to worry about how to get the application up and running outside of your LLM. This solves one of the biggest needs we've seen in our AI on Your Farm cohorts.

Jaryd and I are hosting a workshop this Thursday: Build Your First AI App I now have 3-4 core applications that I built for myself. It really feels like a superpower to use your brain to create something tangible and useful. In this workshop, we're going to teach you a few of the landmines that tend to get people in trouble. You'll walk away with everything you need to build yourself a durable, custom, amazing piece of software. nerdout.com/d/build-your-fir…

We tested Jev, the new AI decision model, on tagging notes. Its accuracy lagged, measured by how often it applied the same tags people had actually used across several open-source, publicly available note repositories. But its speed and cost were vastly superior to the traditional LLMs. More use cases to come…

Most farmers I know have a ton of paper documents. Just a few examples: invoices, fertilizer records, crop plans, grain marketing contracts, etc. Paperless NGX is an open-source document storage platform that converts all of your documents and their contents into a digital format (using OCR to read text and even handwriting). But in my opinion, it's missing two things: 1. Semantic search that finds results based on meaning and topic, rather than exact keyword matches. 2. Connectivity with AI tools. So we've built a free tool that we're giving away to the Fullstack Ag community, and we're calling it Paperless Ag. It combines semantic search with an MCP. It's taking us a little longer than what I was hoping for, but we should have it launched to the community this week.

We'll be building this in the next cohort of AIonYourFarm.com. Sign up for the waitlist at the website today to be notified when we open up sign-ups (it will happen this week).
Building out an automated "Grain Marketing Advisor" and testing out its abilities. This might turn into one of the highest ROI builds yet. Its hooked to a cron based python scrip in my openclaw, and constantly udpates and pulls data from obisidian. The coolest part is it will know my farm (fron to back) and learn from all past sales to get smarter in the future. Pulls supporting info from CBOT, USDA reports, social media chatter, etc. Emails me the whole report weekly, daily market movement, and sends "action needed" reports that are time sensitive to my discord channel. Time will tell.

I recorded a podcast yesterday. I asked the host (a HarvestProfit.com user) what his favorite feature of the software is. His reply: our customer support team. I started doing all customer support but I do well under 1% of it now. So I can’t take much credit! Good work @theWyguy95, @blonglet, @thechrissalazar, @jarydkrish, @remotejake, Claudine, Cody, and Jarrett!

Today marks the three-year anniversary of HarvestProfit.com’s acquisition by John Deere. A few thoughts. First, I’m thankful for a lot of things, but I’m especially thankful that we have been able to maintain a lot of autonomy. We continue to improve what features we currently have, build new features, and provide the best support that we can. What we work on continues to be driven solely by our team and customers. Secondly, I knew Deere had a lot of smart and motivated people. But the people have exceeded my expectations. There are a ton of great people at the company who’ve helped us build better software for our customers. That will only accelerate. Lastly, it’s been fun to see the progress on Operations Center. I’m excited to continue to leverage the great work by the Operations Center teams and add a financial lens to the increasing amount of data being tracked on your farm. I received a fair amount of critical feedback after the deal closed. And that’s understandable. But I’m confident that we’ve been able to build a better customer experience by our closer relationship with Deere’s people and tech. I have a lot to be thankful for.

One of the things that I’m proud of at Harvest Profit is that we haven’t had any employees quit since I started the business 7 years ago. This will obviously change at some point as people seek new challenges. But I’m thankful to have kept our small team together. I’m far from perfect as a manager but I think that there are a few factors at play here: 1) Working on impactful things for our customers 2) Deere has been great to us and has a ton of smart, motivated people 3) Everyone has a lot of autonomy 4) Flexible work hours and location 5) Problems happen and when they do, no one gets angry. We do our best to fix issues and improve. And there’s likely some luck involved. I’ll take it though!

A month or so ago, @jarydkrish and I bought an income-generating website for $112,500. It's a niche travel site with 500+ articles and generates revenue via ads. We're too busy with work and life to do anything with it right now but it's been fun to watch the metrics. Daily revenue 👇

Guess the date our 8’ snow pile fully melts. Closest guess wins a 1” Milwaukee impact driver! The pile is slightly shaded overhead, sits on a concrete slab, and faces west. What’s your best guess?? (from me personally, not a company purchase) – at West Fargo, ND
