I’ve always struggled with writing about myself. So, it went very against character to embark on this essay. Now, I'm really glad I did. It gave me a chance to put into words what I wrestle with as a parent and filmmaker. talkhouse.com/forces-in-a-st…

Happened to us too
My kids have been going to the same pediatrician their whole lives and suddenly it costs us $300 a year for "concierge" service so we can be a patient there.

“Hollywood” can’t be fixed in post. This is the core danger of the merger. Destruction is not guaranteed. But there is a legitimate chance that it cracks the foundation in a real way. A lot of smart people just want to move forward, thinking the mess can be cleaned up later. And maybe it can. But if it can’t, it will be too late. There are lines that cannot be uncrossed.

Matthew McConaughey says he witnessed the most Miami thing ever. Matthew McConaughey: “I see this guy posing on a purple and pink Lamborghini under a palm tree. I’m thinking, ‘Wow, nice car.’” Guy: “Nah, man. I rented it for the day.” Matthew: “For what?” Guy: “My Tinder cover photo.” A few minutes later… Another guy: “Hey, can I use your Lamborghini for my Tinder pic?” Guy: “Sure. Fifty bucks.” Matthew: “Wait… that’s not your car, and you’re charging people to fake like it’s theirs?” Guy: “Yep.” “He wasn’t embarrassed. He was proud of it.” Miami is a different planet.

Replying to @Thebiglade
having to create connection with the Oneness (ie meaning and purpose of life) instead of being born with it (via the ability to create life and connection to cycles) - and being socialized to reject that connection because it is "weak" - and then wondering why we feel so empty

I'm sick of saying it, but... There is really no inherent difference between broadcast TV, linear, and streaming. They have different limitations. They have different audiences, though both have specific audiences that vary to each "channel." They are delivery systems that cross over one another invariably and increasingly. The difference between Netflix and YouTube is the content they offer. They don't do the same thing. The difference between a basketball final game on broadcast and streaming is the size of audience (which varies wildly) and what the commercial time delivers to the advertiser. The endless talk of competition is dumb. Streaming has to be the future. Nothing else makes sense, either for the consumer or the distributors. It is a more flexible, cheaper delivery system. Cable continues only because of limitations on home internet and because it is a more profitable model for the legacy companies... for now.

5 years after I quit being a studio exec, I woke up in a $67 dollar a night motel & called our WME agent asking if he could check with my former colleague in Business Affairs at the studio I used to work at to see if the pitch we "sold" them 27 months ago (!) would ever close.

There’s so many things I love about this. 1. The essential nature and acknowledgement of collaboration. 2. The beauty of bringing imperfection to art. 3. Grounding film in human achievement. 4. The segues.
We worked with @Panavision to talk about I Love Boosters, the process of getting the big, bold, colors, and why it HAS to be seen on a big screen.
