An honour to have been reappointed as one of the @MayorofLondon's Design Advocates and to continue working to make London a more inclusive and accessible place for all.
I was delighted to welcome the new cohort of @MayorofLondon's Design Advocates at City Hall yesterday. Design Advocates are independent built environment experts appointed to support the Mayor’s vision for inclusive, sustainable, quality growth across London. #GoodGrowthByDesign
Thank you @FT for interviewing me. If there are three things I want people to understand:
1. Involve disabled people in planning decisions!
2. Investment in access is investment for all
3. Not everyone can 'work', better public transport is not a panacea!

Keir Starmer is determined to push ahead with cutting people's disability benefits, after months of extensive government research shows its much easier to take money off them than millionaires or big business
You know that feeling when you’re meant to be interviewing candidates for a job but your train is cancelled, so you go a different way, finally get to your destination, see a ‘lift out of order’ sign and shout ‘FUCKING HELL’ very loudly because you use a wheelchair?
Yeah, that.

I look forward to seeing if “intense lobbying” from disabled people will stop Labour cutting benefits.
Rachel Reeves says she'll amend the finance bill to soften planned changes to the non dom tax regime after intense lobbying from wealthy UK residents 🤨
The govt will increase the "temporary repatriation facility" which allows non-doms to bring money instantly to UK without paying significant taxes.
“We have been listening to the concerns that have been raised by the non-dom community,” she says.

As Karen Atkinson steps away from her role of Finance Director at City Bridge Foundation, she looks back at 25 years in the charitable sector – reflecting on what’s changed, and what lies ahead.
In this short article for @CivilSocietyUK, Karen touches on diversity, collaboration and technology, the specific challenges of being a finance professional within a charity, and how impact investment is the future.
We’re extremely grateful to have had Karen’s skills and expertise to guide us, as well as her passion for all that we do, from the bridges we maintain to the communities we support.

It was a privilege to speak at the 40th anniversary of the Microscope Ball, a great event that raised over half a million pounds in one night. My thanks to all who attended and gave so generously in support of Muscular Dystrophy UK. Don’t ask about the dancing stormtroopers 😅

A coalition of disabled people's charities and passenger organisations have written to the Prime Minister, urging him to take four simple steps to make UK transport systems more accessible. Find out what they are, and read the letter in full

ALT Three disabled people sit and stand in a busy railway station. The first is a Black male with clipped hair, he is a wheelchair user with a limb difference. The second is a white woman with long brown hair and glasses, standing with her hand on her hip. The last is a south-east Asian man with glasses, he is a wheelchair user. They are gazing determinedly at the camera. The words say 'NEWS: Coalition of charities calls for the Prime Minister to secure transport accessibility for disabled people'.

We’re thrilled to share our first poem from Cecilia Knapp, City Bridge Foundation’s new poet-in-residence.
‘O Southwark Bridge’ celebrates the quietest of our five bridges – the one that’s used by pedestrians and cyclists in the know – seeking a quick, quiet route into and from the City.
With its bright green and yellow livery, its snug alcoves and distinctive lamp posts, Southwark Bridge is more than just a river crossing. Today, supported by our friends at @PoetrySociety, we celebrate Southwark Bridge and its unsung role in London life.
