The only AI that won't invent your citations just dropped. Everything else is gambling with your credibility. When researchers ask LLMs to synthesize scientific literature, they get confident answers. But... Wrong paper. Invented author. Looks legit. Isn’t. OpenScholar just changed that:

Really enjoyed this piece by Munger et al. on the future of peer reviewing: osf.io/preprints/socarxiv/59… Highly recommend everyone to read! The explicit incorporation of LLMs in technical checks should be considered by CS conferences as well!

🚨BREAKING: Google just dropped another hit! It's called PaperBanana and it generates publication-ready academic illustrations from just your methodology text. No Figma. No manual design. No illustration skills needed. Here's how it works: A team of AI agents runs behind the scenes → One finds good diagram examples → One plans the structure → One styles the layout → One generates the image → One critiques and improves it Here's the wildest part: Random reference examples work nearly as well as perfectly matched ones. What matters is showing the model what good diagrams look like, not finding the topically perfect reference. In blind evaluations, humans preferred PaperBanana outputs 75% of the time. This is the recursion we've been waiting for AI systems that can fully document themselves visually. Waitlist’s open, Link in the first comment.

🚨 New in Nature+Science!🚨 AI chatbots can shift voter attitudes on candidates & policies, often by 10+pp 🔹Exps in US Canada Poland & UK 🔹More “facts”→more persuasion (not psych tricks) 🔹Increasing persuasiveness reduces "fact" accuracy 🔹Right-leaning bots=more inaccurate

Holy shit… this might be the most unreal academic-writing upgrade I’ve ever seen 🤯 A team from NUS just dropped PaperDebugger an in-editor, multi-agent system that lives inside Overleaf and rewrites your paper with you in real time. Not copy-paste. Not a sidebar chatbot. Actual agentic editing inside your LaTeX editor. Here’s why this is insane 👇 → You highlight a messy paragraph, and it launches a full critique + rewrite pipeline → Returns clean before–after diffs like Git, then patches your document instantly → Runs Reviewer, Enhancer, Scoring, and Researcher agents in parallel → Uses Kubernetes pods to scale multi-agent reasoning inside the editor → Taps an MCP toolchain for literature search, reference lookup, and section-level enhancement Deep research mode is even crazier: It pulls relevant arXiv papers, summarizes them, compares your method against them, and generates citation-ready tables… all inline while you're writing. It’s basically a mini committee of reviewers embedded in your document rewriting, critiquing, sourcing, and polishing without ever breaking flow. If this scales, Overleaf stops being an editor… and becomes a full AI-assisted research environment.

Our new study in @ScienceMagazine built an LLM-powered browser extension to rerank social media feeds without requiring platform cooperation. In a preregistered 10-day field experiment (N=1,256), we found that algorithmic ranking can both raise and lower levels of affective political polarization. science.org/doi/10.1126/scie…
A new experiment using an #AI-powered browser extension to reorder feeds on X (formerly Twitter), and conducted independently of the X platform’s algorithm, shows that even small changes in exposure to hostile political content can measurably influence feelings toward opposing political parties—within days of X exposure. The findings in Science provide direct causal evidence of the impact of algorithmically controlled post ranking on a user’s social media feed. scim.ag/48IH9mx

Is there any human client support team behind @Prolific ? I submitted a ticket a few days ago and no one responded and in the meantime your system keeps sending over 30 automatic emails to bomb my inbox.

Excited to share our new @AJPS_Editor paper! We analyze 5M+ Douyin videos from 18K+ regime-affiliated accounts and show how propaganda is now produced and spread through a decentralized model on social media. Four years of work with an incredible team: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…
How has digital media transformed authoritarian propaganda? In our new @AJPS_Editor paper with @YingdanL_kk, @jenjpan & @xuyiqing, we proposed a *decentralized propaganda* model and empirically demonstrate its existence on Douyin: doi.org/10.1111/ajps.12990 🧵
