The most effective software engineers I know always had a tendency to revert to writing "C" style code.
Nothing seems to come close in terms of readability / maintainability.

Excited to say I'm now considering new job opportunities! I was an early user of React, managed the team at FB, and recently finished a VP Eng role at Humu.
Now I'm looking to join a diverse, kind, hypercompetent team, with a role where I can empower and upskill engineers.

A not so hot take: There is a 99.9% chance you don't need microservices or Kubernetes 🙂

I’ve been messing around with Zig, reading it’s parser code and writing a parser of my own in the same style. It’s been a ton of fun. I really like this language.

Zig has a brilliant metaprogramming system that subsumes generics.
There are no type parameters, just value parameters, and types simply happen to be value parameters that are passed at compile-time.
Here's a generic 'max' function that works on any type:
fn max(comptime T: type, a: T, b: T) T {
return if (a > b) a else b;
}
For my Scala followers, 'comptime' modifier can be thought of as the logical successor of Scala 3's 'inline': a single construct that can unify disparate language features (match types, generics, metaprogramming).

Alright, y’all, this is the week that Eleventy By Example comes out, so I thought I’d do a spicy clickbait thread with a pre-order link at the end. Sound good? Great!

It is just regular functions. If someone starts telling you about classes or "dependency injection" or whatever else, as things that are necessary or even useful for testing, that person does not really know how to program.
