We have completed the most amazing experience: School on the Blue Economy in the Arctic. Started with meeting the wonderful people of Kuujjuaq and ending with a choppy 10 day experience on the CCGS Amundsen. @UoS_OES @philbenthos @Marianne_Fa @izzcoops #BlueEconomyArctic

In the face of the warmest July on record, record low sea ice cover in Antarctica, the awful Mediterranean wildfires, the destructive floods worldwide, and the countless other climate-related horrors, this is absurd, disgusting, and hugely damaging. @JustStop_Oil #EndFossilFuels
Today we are saying no to @JustStop_Oil and their political wing the Labour Party  We will power ahead with new oil and gas because it’s in the best interests of the British people, of our economy and of our national security

Having an established medical care team is critical for people w/ #disabilities & can take yrs to develop. In add’n to the excellent pts in this thread, the need to justify staying at your inst also forces people to disclose disabilities they may not be ready to/want to disclose.

Capturing that pesky biological variability in benthic flux that us geochemists would prefer to avoid 🤣 A point well made AND a path forward! #radium #RaDeCC #oceanography

In Privileged Hands, Vermeij outlines his brilliant ecological and malacological work. He highlights the importance of open-mindedness in supervisors and provision of opportunities, and that disability can stimulate unique perspectives and contributions. 2/2

Izzy here, I've just finished the wonderful book 'Privileged Hands: A Scientific Life' by Geerat Vermeij and wanted to give it a big recommend. It's a fantastic account of a brilliant scientist who happens to be disabled 1/2
