South East Water's incompetence to cost bill players £30 MILLION. Not only did South East Water's contempt for customers result in a loss of supply for 100,000s of people, 2 hospitals, a kidney treatment centre, 15 schools, 19 care homes and 29 nurseries it's also going to cost bill payers £30 million. Think not, well lets face it the shareholders Utilities Trust of Australia, NatWest Group @NatWestGroup and Desjardins @DesjardinsGroup aren't going to pay it are they? Oh and remind me, why in God's name does CEO David Hinton still have a job? 👇👇👇 thetimes.com/uk/environment/…

England's water privatisation is an extreme, ideological experiment that has failed since 1989 70% of Tory voters agree And CONSERVATIVE MP @jackmrankin is saying no to Thames Water's state sanctioned rip off 👇 "Profit cannot be privatised while risk is socialised" 👏👏👏

Good news from the Ivel. ⁦@NationalHways⁩ seems to be doing work at a settlement lagoon they have ignored for 30 years. Let’s hope it is not just digging a bloody big hole and hoping for the best!⁦@stormwater_jo⁩ ⁦@CHinchliffMP⁩ ⁦@Feargal_Sharkey⁩

Exactly so. It won’t however do anything to get rid of the decades of toxic silt that has built up in the river and all the many mill ponds downstream.

Right Olly @agricontract and I don’t agree on everything but please listen to this because he is absolutely bang on with this . Supermarket greed is killing UK farming . Please support your local food producers - not the pockets of bloody faceless shareholders
Farmers under valued in life overvalued in death Why do supermarkets drive down the real cost of food They are not doing it to be nice to you they are doing it to get you in shop to make it back out of you on other products But in doing so kill farm shops @AldiUK

The River Babingley is the first freshwater Sea Trout encounter on entering the Great Ouse🧐unfortunately I’m not seeing as many Redds as usual & believe it’s down to the low river level☹️but happy to say I’ve found some ❤️#ChalkStreams

Replying to @Chairman_WTT
I’ve always assumed it’s Sea Trout spawning in the River Babingley but this definitely has the colour of a large Atlantic Salmon & you know there big when they cause a bow wave when swimming off 🙂That’s also a huge newly excavated Redd could it be a Salmon ? @N_Rivers_Trust xitter.cf/RussellB1ggs/status/20…

Who owns Britain? Mostly aristocrats, oligarchs and big corporations. Inheritance tax changes won’t touch their corporations and trusts that never die. Labour should go after these wealthy landowners—not family farmers so vital to food security and climate action.

Hey @AffinityWater what has happened to the river Ivel at Baldock? 1) augmentation pump been switched off or 2) pump failure? Your £££ restoration scheme looks better with 💦 #stakeholdercontact #chalkstream @EnvAgencyAnglia @CHinchliffMP @VerValleySoc @AquiferChalk @CaBAtweets

I’m speaking at this event today. Let’s hope that the Committee will recommend effective regulation of pollution from highway runoff.
Can we build new roads without threatening biodiversity? Tomorrow at 2.30pm we're exploring environmental impacts of major road developments, including pollution from run-off and whether schemes such as biodiversity net gain are fit for purpose.

The West Norfolk Chalk Aquifer is heavily over abstracted with at least 15 @AnglianWater boreholes that I know of + countless boreholes feeding the irrigation equipment flooding fields for Potatoes 🥔 The @EnvAgencyAnglia even allows direct abstraction from the @GaywoodRiver 🤬

We have 🥔 being irrigated through heatwaves in Cat Ditch catchment. The chalk stream is dry in non drought conditions. 3 major abstractors to find out why and @EnvAgencyAnglia not bothered cos they changed WFD monitoring pt below a major STW . Flow regime problems disappear!

A final #BalsamBash of the season on the #RiverVer supported by 29 of our volunteers. Thanks to one and all, we've combed every inch of the infested banks at least twice. We'll be ready again in 2026! #INNS
