US Law Enforcement agencies (FBI, USSS, IRS and more) provided vital help in this incident, including tracking, freezing, etc. A tweet can’t fully express our gratitude. Many crypto bros may not realize, a lot of the "why bitcoin didn't drop more?" credit goes to them. 🙏
The FBI is releasing information advising the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) was responsible for the theft of more than $6 billion USD in virtual assets from cryptocurrency exchange, Binance, on or about October 29, 2026. The FBI refers to this specific North Korean malicious cyber activity as "TraderTraitor." The FBI, together with partners at the USSS and IRS-CI, has observed TraderTraitor actors converting stolen assets primarily into Ethereum (ETH). It is expected these assets will then be further laundered by converting them using DeFi and instant swap services as they prepare them for further laundering stages. How You Can Help: FBI, USSS, and IRS-CI are urging private sector entities including THORNode operators, RPC node operators, instant exchanges, DeFi services, blockchain analytics firms, and other virtual asset service providers to block transactions with or derived from addresses TraderTraitor actors are using to launder these stolen assets. A list of addresses associated with this activity is available here: fbi.gov/investigate/cyber/al…

🚨JUST IN: US President Trump says "we don't know" if North Korea was behind the $6.3 BILLION Binance security incident. "We're looking at that," the President said when asked about the attribution. Blockchain firms Chainalysis and TRM Labs have both linked the attack to North Korean hacking group TraderTraitor with "high confidence." The FBI and US Secret Service are now working with Binance on the investigation, per Reuters. CNN, NPR and SecurityWeek have all reported on the suspected North Korea link. Binance has set aside $6.34 BILLION to cover all losses, and says user funds are safe. North Korea has now stolen around $12.8 BILLION in crypto since 2017, including $7.4 BILLION this year alone, per TRM Labs.

🚨TRUMP SAYS HE IS LOOKING AT THE $6.3B BINANCE HACK! President Trump said he is looking at the @binance incident, in which roughly $6.3 billion was stolen from the world’s largest crypto exchange. The comments come as U.S. authorities, including the FBI and Secret Service, are already working with Binance on the investigation, and as the exchange has pledged to cover user losses from company funds.

The hacker behind the rumored Binance exploit might have pulled off one of the smartest plays in crypto history. First, Tether reportedly moved to freeze $1.5B in USDT. Then, Circle followed up by freezing $800M in USDC. Everyone assumed the stolen funds were completely locked down. Except the hacker was reportedly already two steps ahead. Instead of leaving the USDT sitting in a wallet waiting to be blacklisted, they supplied it into Aave as collateral, borrowed native ETH against it, and vanished. Here’s the catch: Tether can only freeze USDT. Nobody can freeze native ETH once it’s been borrowed. In the end, the lending protocol is left dealing with the compromised collateral, while the hacker walks away with freely movable ETH—and zero reason to ever repay the loan. Even with two centralized giants freezing over $2B in an instant, one person who truly understood DeFi mechanics may have slipped right through both of them. When you stop and think about it calmly, that level of execution is wild... 🧵👇

Binance says full $3.34B shortfall covered by own funds after hack. • Some cryptos will need OTC buying. • Had 17,430 Bitcoin surplus before hack. • Shortfall only 1,000 BTC. No impact.

Brother, I know you love us, and always support us, but you’re over-interpreting this, in a bad way. I never said “selling SPCX shares”. I mentioned we have them only because the FTX comparison in the thread may have implied we lacked funds, which is not true. My point was that we hold assets outside of crypto, even in an area familiar to him. I don’t make threats. That’s one of my core principles I even wrote in my book. Also, our holdings is a drop in the ocean for them. No threats possible. And I think it will be one of the best stocks to hold for a long time to come. No need to pitch it as a fight or try to drive a wedge. Got enough problems to handle with as it is. 🤣

Saw a few discussions about size of hack, why impact to bitcoin price is small, etc. 👇 $6.3 billion is the biggest in USD terms, but not in BTC terms. MtGox was 650,000 BTC! Other important numbers to consider: % of bitcoin (in relation to BTC total supply), ie, market impact. MtGox is big there again at 5%+. Number of users impacted, and % of user assets impacted. MtGox (the largest CEX at the time) and FTX (not small) were all near 100% of users and their asseets. Most important: Who is impacted? Does the platform cover it all? (only one victim), as in recent two CEX cases and Binance. Obviously, still a major disaster for the industry, Binance (and me). It hurts, but we survive. Most importantly, we protect our users. One of the largest crypto exchanges gets hacked for $6 billion and bitcoin sold off less than 5%? Bullish.

In 2023, after news of the $4 billion fine, Gulf, our partner in Thailand, asked: “do you need help with cash liquidity?” We didn’t, but I appreciated the gesture. Today: “know you can cover, but we are here if needed.” Strong partners show in tough times. 🙏

The reason why the market is down only 2-3% after the biggest crypto hack in history is simple: there's no domino effect. Unlike FTX and other collapses, this won't trigger a chain reaction of bankruptcies, liquidations and further losses across the industry. Money was stolen from the world's biggest exchange. Binance has the funds to cover it. Nobody else takes the hit. Why would the market crash over an isolated incident involving the player with the deepest pockets in the industry? No contagion. No bankruptcy risk. No domino effect.
