As we build toward the metaverse, we're researching how to develop a virtual reality display system where what you see in your headset is as vivid and detailed as the physical world. Mark Zuckerberg just shared the details here facebook.com/zuck/videos/355…

This is huge and I'm super proud @Meta is a launch partner. Even the most conservative climate models say we need to take carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere to avert the worst of the climate crisis. Many cool technologies exist but they don't have a market for their product..
Introducing Frontier—a $925M advance market commitment (AMC) to accelerate carbon removal. frontierclimate.com It’s funded by Stripe, @Google, @Shopify, @Meta, @McKinsey, and the thousands of businesses using Stripe Climate. More details. ⬇️

I’ve officially transitioned from Meta CTO->Senior Fellow—a part-time role focused on supporting strategic tech initiatives. I’ll be particularly focused on AI, which is the engine of so much of what we’re building. Congrats to @boztank for stepping into the CTO role!

Our AI systems can now enforce a new content policy without needing tons of example data and months of training - it’s an amazing AI breakthrough that removes a serious bottleneck in @meta’s efforts to remove harmful content: protocol.com/enterprise/meta…

If I told you 10 years ago Facebook AI authors would be on 79 of the accepted papers at the premier Machine Learning conference you probably would have laughed. Crazy! neurips.cc/Conferences/2021/…

The metaverse isn’t something we’re building, so much as it’s something we’re building for. And we won't be doing it on our own. We'll work with experts outside the company to make sure it's designed for safety and privacy and inclusion from the start. about.fb.com/news/2021/10/fo…

Our connectivity researchers are working on ways to slash the amount of time and money it takes to roll out high-speed broadband. They developed a robot that crawls along power lines, wrapping them with fiber-optic cable. No more digging trenches!

Here’s @mags on a question we’re thinking about all the time: how to balance our optimism and hope for new technologies with the right amount of skepticism and caution tech.fb.com/grace-hopper-key…
