PSA: If you're using a URL that begins with "prefs:" or "App-Prefs:" you will be rejected. It doesn't matter if you're trying to help a customer navigate a byzantine maze of switches and knobs to do the thing they want. You will be rejected.

The launch screen cache on iOS can be a pain when you want to quickly iterate while creating a new launch screen in a storyboard. Today I learned how to fix that 😄 rambo.codes/ios/quick-tip/20…

To better understand UIViewController presentation styles, I made a demo app and open sourced it: github.com/an0/ViewControlle…. It also serves as a handy template project for filing VC presentation related bug reports.

I'm 1 month old! That means today is the very last day for the 50% launch discount on standard listings. As of tomorrow, the price will be back to normal! Soooooo... Today would be a great day to go post your job. iosdevjobs.com/post-a-job/

It looks like NSData.description has changed when linking against iOS13/Catalina, so if you rely on that to generate a string version of your push token, you’re gonna have some issues 😬

Hope you all had a fantastic #wwdc and it may sound obvious, but we should have something related to #SwiftUI at @iosconfsg. However, instead of having SwiftUI 101, I would love to have some talks about the experiences you all will have with it from now until the conference.

If you want to share a subscription between iOS and Mac/Catalyst, you’ll have to do it all yourself. Apple has no solution for that yet. iCloud Containers are one option, but I’ll probably go with @RevenueCat – at San Jose, CA

Good News! If you're using Swift, you will probably be glad to know that isDate(_ date1:, inSameDayAs date2:) -> Bool isDateInToday(_ date:) -> Bool are available on Calendar. So, we don't need to write these ourselves. Please stop writing these yourselves.

For example: • Have the same animation in different layers you want to be in sync w/ each other? Set the layer’s beginTime to the same value • Want to pause a layer’s animation or drive it based on interaction? Set its speed to 0 and its timeOffset to whatever you want

… I just realized that you can actually click the “hardware” buttons on the chrome of the iOS simulator (lock, vol up, vol down, lock) I thought they were just … you know … chrome. 😳

This is spot on. Try to stick to URLSession. A lot of people are cargo-culting best practices from 2011, or grasping for features they don’t use. tim.engineering/break-up-thi…
