America hasn’t recovered primary gallium since 1987
In 2025, China produced an estimated 900 tonnes
Japan and Russia produced about 9 tonnes combined
Gallium is recovered mainly as a by-product of alumina refining. It takes a dedicated recovery circuit
The U.S. still refines alumina at one refinery, using imported bauxite. No primary gallium is recovered here
At Silicon Ridge in Utah, our independent SGS-prepared PEA outlines a non-Bayer route to alumina from halloysite clay, with gallium among the critical minerals valued from the same feed
China’s U.S.-specific gallium export ban is suspended until November 27, 2026.
Licensing and the military end-use ban remain in force
One pathway to domestic gallium: gallium-bearing feed, domestic alumina and dedicated recovery

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, Ambassador Jamieson Greer stood on our plant floor last week and said some things about our company that we want you to hear directly from Ambassador Greer himself.
It happened at our 84,000 sq. ft. facility in Provo where a very old American problem is being solved by a very Utah kind of stubbornness.
The problem: the minerals inside every fighter jet, data center, and rechargeable battery are almost never mined individually on purpose. They ride along as byproducts of host industries that America let go of a generation ago. That's why one country can turn off the supply — and with gallium and germanium, it already has.
So we're rebuilding the host industry. One Utah clay feedstock in. Alumina — the anchor product carrying the operation, on a hydromet route that avoids the visible-from-space red-mud tailings legacy of the Bayer process. And riding alongside it, nineteen critical minerals and rare earths, recovered as co-products from the same feed. Not a rendering. Running.
Last week, Ambassador @jamiesongreer — with U.S. Congressman @RepBlakeMoore, @RepMikeKennedy, Ambassador @JeffFlake, Senate President @JStuartAdams & @WTCUtah President Jonathan Freedman — came to walk the floor and see it for themselves. We're grateful they did, and prouder still of the Ionic MT team who built what they came to see.
Ambassador Greer's words open the video. Worth your two minutes.
What. A. Week!
What an honor to have USTR @jamiesongreer and several Utah leaders, including Rep. Mike Kennedy (R-Utah), Rep. Blake Moore, and @utahsenate President J. Stuart Adams (R) at our Provo headquarters to talk about the future of America's critical minerals supply chain today. On behalf of the Ionic MT team, we’re so grateful to have leaders that understand the important work we’re doing here. We are so lucky for your leadership.
Thanks to the Ambassador, our Members of Congress, and state and local leaders for making the trip out.

A $12.1 billion after-tax NPV. A 44-year operating plan. One Utah clay deposit.
Today we announced the results of the independent Preliminary Economic Assessment for our Silicon Ridge Project — prepared by SGS, and a defining milestone for Ionic MT’s vertically integrated advanced-materials platform.
The topline results:
⏺️ $12.1 billion after-tax Net Present Value (8% discount rate)
⏺️ 69% after-tax Internal Rate of Return; 1.5-year payback
⏺️ More than $92 billion in projected life-of-mine revenue over an initial 44-year operating plan
⏺️ Approximately $60 billion in lifetime after-tax free cash flow — roughly 50× the initial capital investment
Built on the Project’s maiden Mineral Resource Estimate, the PEA outlines a single domestic source of alumina products, rare earth oxides, gallium, germanium, rubidium, cesium, and amorphous nano-silica — minerals the United States today imports almost entirely, several of them subject to Chinese export restrictions.
Silicon Ridge sits on Utah School and Institutional Trust Lands — meaning Project royalties help fund Utah’s K-12 public schools — and our flowsheet is operating today at our Provo facility.

An eye-opening piece in @Bloomberg last week highlights the serious challenges the U.S. faces in its effort to secure reliable supplies of essential rare earth elements.
As @Bloomberg reports, we’re facing a staggering 82% supply deficit for heavy rare earth elements produced outside China.
Currently, 4% of U.S. GDP consists of industries dependent on these elements. These industries are now particularly vulnerable as China has recently grown more confident curbing nations’ access to these resources, often times over small skirmishes or disagreements.
This is where Ionic MT can help.
Our recently-discovered domestic deposit of 16 different light and heavy rare earth elements and critical minerals offer a shovel-ready solution to America’s pressing mineral supply crunch. With a fully permitted mining site and a 74,000 sq. ft. operational processing facility in Provo, we are positioned to quickly move from pilot to production.

April 2025, China widened its export controls to include yttrium. The result: Bottlenecks that have already begun to squeeze the U.S. supplies.
While China maintains its grip on the market, the price of yttrium has surged. Exports of yttrium from China now face export case-by-case licensing reviews, meaning supplies are tighter as a foreign power gets to dictate the level of resources the U.S. can have.
According to Reuters, late last year, manufacturers were already warning of delivery delays and growing concerns that shortages could spread across aerospace, defense, and medical supply chains if new sources do not come online.
Yttrium is an essential rare earth element, found inside everything from precision-guided missile lasers, to high-temperature jet engines, and every advanced medical X-ray and MRI system.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) identifies yttrium as a "medium-to-high" supply risk mineral and without it, our most advanced hospital diagnostics and aerospace defenses go dark.
At Ionic MT, our Silicon Ridge project in Utah contains yttrium alongside 16+ critical minerals and rare earths, all recoverable from a single integrated feedstock through our proprietary zero-waste process.
As geopolitical competition intensifies and supply chains grow more fragile, building a domestic source of minerals like yttrium is no longer optional — it’s a national security imperative
One deposit. One process. A domestic answer to a foreign dependency that is no longer theoretical.
