At the end of 2025, the Malaria Atlas Project looked back on 25 years of #malaria control in #Africa to assess what has worked & how far we’ve come. The findings are encouraging. Since 2000, malaria interventions have averted an estimated 1.57 B cases & 5.7 M deaths, with insecticide-treated nets delivering the biggest impact. Even with growing populations, more people are protected than ever before. Despite this, the data also sounds a warning. Progress has stalled since 2015, not because the tools fail, but because coverage has stopped expanding. Reaching 80% ITN coverage could reignite the sharp declines seen between 2005–2015, alongside locally tailored strategies that reflect geographic differences. The message is clear, we must sustain coverage & target interventions where they’re needed most. More insights ➡️ ivcc.com/wp-content/uploads/…

New in Current Research in Parasitology & Vector-Borne Diseases @CRPVBD #OpenAccess ▶️sciencedirect.com/science/ar… @ThomasChurcher @MRC_Outbreak @PATHMalaria @invectorcontrol 📌 Attractive targeted sugar bait (ATSB) kills mosquitoes which sugar-feed on it. 📌 The dyed fraction of mosquitoes is used as a correlate of ATSB efficacy. 📌 Dyed fraction depends on vector control use, mosquito dynamics and dye properties. 📌 Model projected mosquito density reproduced the results of a field trial in Mali. 📌 The epidemiological efficacy of ATSB depends on mosquito sugar-feeding behaviour.
