A strong read from legendary sports journalist Louise Evans on dramas involving Jess Hull: the fall, DQ and DQ reversal, and reports of a “thawing relationship” with AA.
Hull could not have been more unequivocal about both matters after winning the 5k.

This photo shows where Australia's Aidan Murphy went wrong in the men's 4x400m, and why the team were disqualified.
Needed to have both feet behind the blue line.
The Brazilian runner made the same mistake, resulting in the disqualification of his team.

For the first 6 years of his pro career, Josh Hoey cycled through 5 coaches and barely improved on his 1:47 800m pb from high school.
I spoke to those coaches -- and his new one, Justin Rinaldi -- to find out how he went from that to World Indoor champ.

Sarah Billings with her sensational 1:57.83, only 0.05 off Bisset’s Australian record
Mentioned in her post-race interview how she trusted the gaps would open up
You can see Billings before 200m try to go pass Hurta-Klecker on the outside - but got pushed wide - so ducked onto the rail and it’s almost as if chasing the gaps as they opened up drew her into this fast time - clever racing and tremendous strength last 80m
800m #2 in the world 2025
1500m close 2nd to Hull National Champs

Running Aust finals on consecutive days a risk? Perhaps not, at least for the 1500/5k double. 3 of our top 5 in the 1500M on Sat (Myers, Thomas, Hansen) and 1500W (Hull, Griffith, Hall) were also top 5 in the 5k on Sun, reflecting modern closer alignment of 1500 and 5k training.
