Want to know how I managed to image S. aureus in complex human tissues ? Read about our cool fluorescent probe developed together with @RiveraChemLab
In a great collaboration between our lab, @BumannLab and @KhannaLabBasel, @KJantarug and @vishwachi_95 report a robust probe to detect S. aureus in patient biopsies. As a bonus, you can also use this probe for live-cell #SMLM! @NCCR_AntiResist
This is a very exciting new technique 🤩
Can’t wait to try it! – at Osaka-shi Nishinari-ku, Osaka
we love microscopy because it allows us to dive right into a cell and observe what's happening in this fundamental unit of life. with confocal iSCAT we can see even nanoscopic cellular structures, live and label-free in their native environment! nature.com/articles/s41467-0… 🧵1/6

I disagree with this suggestion. Research is based on failure. Those who finance research have to take this risk without the prospect of a direct return on investment. Such approaches endanger basic research not just at @ETH but worldwide.

As an @snf_ch grant recipient at a Swiss scientific institution, I'm not reassured at all by this bland response to the frankly disastrous proposals by their head of grant management. One can hardly think of an approach that would more effectively destroy Swiss science and 1/n
