The 5 stages of naming a startup: Find the perfect name. Fall in love with it. Discover the .com is taken. Convince yourself the .io is better. Eventually buy the .com.

Three-letter domains often sell as acronyms, with buyers searching for a specific set of letters. But some buyers are simply looking for a great short name. That's where discovery comes in. Congrats to the buyer and seller.

Premium single-word .COM names are extremely scarce illiquid assets that command millions of dollars at the very top of the market. Owning a unique matching .COM domain provides vital security and trust for a company's identity. forbes.com/sites/allbusiness…

You clearly have not through this through. The free market mechanism is the ONLY one that distributes resources fairly, including domain names! Let's look at a domain name like Bloom.com. Who should own it? There are THOUSANDS of different trademark holders across hundreds of classes of goods & services. Which one of those is "entitled" to the domain name? How do you differentiate? What criteria? Don't be a socialist cuck. Domain names are just digital land. First come, first served...until someone with more money and a bigger vision buys it from the smaller guy because it is a smart commercial decision. Then someone even bigger comes along one day and buys it again. Then they go bankrupt and the domain goes back to the market and the cycle starts again. It's a beautiful thing.

There is always a .com you can get for $5k that's better the tryblurgh.‌ai you're currently using. The reason you don't see it is (a) lack of imagination and (b) because you're attached to Blurgh, which you shouldn't be, because it's not that great anyway.

Just blogged: $4.85 million Doc[.]com domain name lease comes to light via SEC filing freespeech.com/2026/09/28/4-… Yes, I'm still reviewing SEC filings, unlike the low-life parasitic copycat bloggers. An early Xmas present. 🎁

AI can clone your product in a weekend. Design around your patents in hours. Turn your engineers, designers, and managers into commodities. It cannot steal the exact name people already type, remember, and trust. Your domain is not a URL. It is the last scarce brand asset left. A trademark protects one mark in one class. Your exact-match .com is the name they type in every class. Everything else just became a commodity. Brand = Domain Name = The Last Moat

Thanks @andrewrosener 👉 Have a larger pool of capital so you could acquire bigger names. 👉 Maintain dry powder. 👉 Singles and doubles are important which will allow you to stay in the game long enough to hit the home runs which will allow you to move up the curve.
