Another exciting day full of planetarium shows. We’re spending a day with a SD space camp week for K-6 students. A pic of grad student James Wiley and myself at the start of the day! #cosmictours

🚨 Call your congresspeople now to ask for support to fund @NASA and @NSF, protect these agencies from severe budget cuts, and let them know how important federal funding is for the astronomical sciences in the United States. aas.org/advocacy/get-involve… #astronomy

The Liger team had a great engineering trip to @keckobservatory. Years of planning and design go into an astronomical instrument, and of course a massive team effort!
A great piece on one of our family's closest friends! Terry Cherry is an AMAZING person and officer, and I'm so proud to see her dedicated, hard work celebrated and advertised. Police Departments around the nation should take a look at her recruitment model.

Big shout out and congratulations to @jaimealyse on her new book! Thanks for the quote and great writing about optical #SETI. :) I'm enjoying reading this well-written piece.

I think @ikashell runs a super exciting program and I think that research in techno-signatures is critical and worthy of doing.
That is why I pushed NASA to accept that kind of work as part of its R&A program. It is tough for me to read some of the reviewers comments! C’mon!!😔 – at Kaanapali, HI
Every year our team submits a NSF proposal for SETI instrumentation. It's a revealing process that exposes what our astronomical community thinks of SETI research. We receive a wide range of review comments that vary from supportive to downright anti-SETI. My attempt at a thread
12/13 Our team will continue to improve our proposals, but the astro community still has a long way to go for learning about and engaging with the SETI field. Please be respectful and open-minded, there are SETI folks our here that are doing solid science and engineering.
13/13 If you are interested in the new program we are trying to develop please see more about Panoramic SETI: oirlab.ucsd.edu/PANOSETI.htm…
