Today @uraniumdigital_ is excited to share the closing of our $6.1M seed round, led by @hiFramework. This round accelerates the creation of a new market for the future of nuclear energy and the modernization of its fuel cycle trading infrastructure.
This round also had participation from @Karatage_, @mirana, Knollwood Investment Advisory, @rubikvc, @Arete_xyz.
Angel investors include @baalazamon and @0xlwu of @cubexch, @redacted_j of @BJ_Studios, @JasonYanowitz of @blockworks, and @Rewkang of @mechanismcap.
With this seed round, Uranium Digital is well on its way to creating the only institutional-grade spot market for trading uranium—operating 24/7.
The soon-to-launch token for the platform will represent one-pound of physically deliverable uranium yellowcake (U3O8), verified by a @chainlink Proof-of-Reserve oracle.
The uranium market is notoriously opaque. Uranium Digital brings price transparency, liquidity, and physical settlement—a major leap forward for both institutional and retail participants.
The financialization of energy commodities is not something new:
- Oil in the 1980s
- Natural Gas in the 1990s
- Coal in the 2000s
These transitions significantly expanded those markets, increasing their size by orders of magnitude. For instance, the financially settled natural gas market is 23-25 times larger by dollar volume than its physically settled counterpart.
