If you’re applying for Erasmus Mundus this year, take advantage of this opportunity to get another pair of eyes on your CV and motivation letter.
Pro tip: Don’t make it easy for the reviewers to find obvious mistakes.
Spend considerable time studying your target programme’s website. Understand its philosophy, objectives, and what it seeks in prospective students. Use that knowledge and best practices to write a compelling motivation letter.
Your goal is to get to a point where reviewers can focus on the substance of your application and suggest improvements you might not have noticed yourself, rather than correcting grammatical errors, poor structure, or badly sequenced ideas.
You may not have the luxury of multiple rounds of feedback, so do your homework and make this chance count.

Did you see how productive the cold email I sent towards the start of the Fall ’25 admission cycle was?
The response was really good, but I had no option but to leave out this particular school (and many others) in my scholarship pursuit.
This is a top US school, and I love the research this professor is doing. However, because I could not afford to pay for WES evaluation, I had to drop the school.
The same thing applied to many other top schools with good programs and funding in the US that required GRE/IELTS. Preparing for the exams was never a problem, but the registration fee was.
If you’ve experienced these situations and had to filter out great options due to financial constraints, you’ll appreciate even more what Dr. @AskMichaelTaiwo is doing with @MtScholarships and what Dr. @olumuyiwaayo is doing with @Scholarshipscaf.
Luckily for me, I eventually got the GRE fee paid by Dr. MT later in the application cycle, plus numerous opportunities and support from @Scholarshipscaf, including many giveaways I won from them.
God helping me, I believe I’ll give back too on this Jack’s street turned Elon’s one day.

3 things most applicants don’t know about the Erasmus Mundus scholarship application window that is opening soon:
Most Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters programmes have deadlines between January and March 2027 for September 2027 entry. The preparation starts now, not in December.
You can apply to multiple Erasmus Mundus programmes simultaneously.
The most successful applicants apply to 4 to 6 programmes.
Each requires a tailored motivation letter, the same document pasted into different portals will perform poorly because each programme’s committee knows its own field and recognises generic content.

Unrelated, but I remember a mentor of mine who graduated from the OOU Chemistry department as the best in the department and faculty, and second overall BGS. I did not need to ask for her materials because she knew they were automatically mine. Regardless of who asked for her materials before me, she would tell them they were mine.
After graduation, she told me she was preparing for her visa interview and asked that I remember her in my prayers. She got fully funded PhD in chemistry the University of Kentucky (she is rounding off her program soon). I modeled my LinkedIn profile after hers when I first started hunting for global opportunities.
We spoke a few days ago, and I also collected her recent CV to stay motivated and know what to look out for in my program. I religiously keep my materials and notes in this PhD program because they are priceless.
