On Wednesday, I tried to convince an audience at #Config that a 1970 avant-garde production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream had relevance to their day-to-day lives. It was a blast and I wanted to share a few things that didn’t make it into the talk. youtube.com/watch?v=lr7jom1N…

Fixed it
⌘ ⌘ Use appshots to: • Give me TL;DR on this Slack thread • Check out this form and fill it out for me • Use this API reference to add a feature to my app • Pull out the themes in these replies on X • Find out which of these DMs need a reply • Draft three follow-ups to this dashboard’s top posts • Turn my notes into a presentation deck • Help me trim this video in iMovie • Turn this recipe I have open into a grocery list • Plan the rest of this trip from this itinerary and search the web

Truly cannot overstate the joy this brings me. Very happy to have worked on this feature!
Everyday conversations just got easier with the new Apple Messages plugin. Search messages, catch up on conversations, draft and send replies—all with ChatGPT on your Mac. Now available in ChatGPT Work and Codex on desktop.

Bad (good?) codex feature idea: At work, leave voice mode permanently on. Listen for anytime I grumble about someone doing something dumb. Translate grumble into polite work-speak and send a slack message on my behalf

Proposing a new catchphrase: Move fast and break things and then fix things.

Quality used to feel like a zero-sum game. Go slow and make it perfect, or, move fast and break things. But maybe we’re approaching a place where you can "move fast and break things and then fix those things" / "move fast and break things and fix them automatically before ship."

Whatever the slogan, I'm just excited that we didn’t need to take a huge break from our product roadmap to make meaningful quality and usability improvements. We just needed Codex to help churn out fixes, and a bunch of people using the damn thing.

I gave Codex this image as a reference and told it to draw it in MSPaint using computer use Then it asked one question, and I said to make it the exact same image - It didn’t draw it freehand - It converted the dark ink areas into thousands of short stroke coordinates - It resized Paint - It colored the background - Then Paint drew those strokes one by one using the pencil tool And here’s the result (2nd image)
This is the final result

3D pelican riding a tricycle, plus a pelican riding a pelican, demoed by @edbayes percys-garage-3d.openai.chat… fun fact: no one read or edited the code, and no assets were uploaded. this was built entirely by giving 5.6-sol high simple text instructions like “set a goal to render this as accurately as you can”, “add a g-wagon”, and “can you add another ride: a pelican riding a pelican?”

And when you put a computer use PiP on the pet it's adorable to watch the pet track the action

Expanding on the 'pets are adorable' point. We've massively improved the visual quality of custom pets. All of these were created with little more prompting than "make me a unicorn mermaid pet" or "make me a pink bob named Bob"
This is exciting for very many reasons: 1. Computer use is so much faster now 2. You can babysit what it's doing with the PiP 3. The PiP can live in ChatGPT or on your (updated) Pet 4. The updated Pets are adorable.

The new ChatGPT Work comes with a new Computer Use experience. It's faster and introduces picture-in-picture, so you can keep an eye on Computer Use while it works!

And I deeply recommend “An Empty Space” by Peter Brook and “A Director Prepares” by Anne Bogart. Both are short, easy reads that feel remarkably applicable to our current moment.
