Build for the day you're gone. Design products and business that users will trust. Create platforms engineers can evolve. Build processes operators can run. Develop leaders who don't need your presence or approvals. Work on creating a business that keeps making the right decisions and ensuring that it survives and thrives even if you are not involved. Glory fades. Good and useful systems compound. (minus the bureaucracy) The best legacy isn't your name on the org chart. It's a business that keeps creating value long after you've left.
