The iPhone 18 Pro Max’s internal battery isn’t directly glued to the phone’s body. Instead, it’s attached to the mid-frame, meaning that when the battery needs to be replaced, the entire mid-frame is replaced as a unit, with a new battery already attached.

Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The midframe of the iPhone 18 Pro does not need to be replaced during a standard battery replacement. It uses electrically-activated debonding adhesive that completely releases when a low-voltage DC current is applied to the dedicated contact tabs.

I love seeing this. More repairable laptops help everyone, and reduce waste.
Thanks for taking this seriously Lenovo.
A 10/10 repairability score doesn’t happen by accident. Lenovo’s newest ThinkPads prove that laptops can be powerful, durable, and actually repairable.
Swappable batteries, modular parts, and one of the easiest keyboard replacements we’ve seen. Learn more about what makes these laptops amazing, at the link below.

Do you hear the winds of change come sweeping down the plain? Yeah, that's right, Oklahoma's Right to Repair bill has passed its second committee 13-2. You're doing fine, Oklahoma. Shout out to American Farmers and Ranchers for their work on this!

We’ve seen a lot of nonsensical CES trends over the years, but this year’s show is the one that felt most actively hostile to consumers. We’ve never felt more energized to deliver on our mission and fix this shit.
Together with @backmarket, we’re calling out the worst offenders at CES. Worst in Show is back, and voting is officially open. If a product is glued shut, impossible to fix, or screams planned obsolescence, congratulations, it might be a frontrunner.

Just wrapped up our Worst in Show awards at CES and... wow. Every year I think we've hit peak absurdity. Every year I'm wrong.
Here's the most hostile-to-humans tech on display in Vegas:
I presented the Repairability award to Samsung's "Family Hub" smart fridge.
It has voice-controlled doors. A giant touchscreen. Sounds nifty? Well it could be, if Samsung's track record of actually supporting their software wasn't abysmal.

Big news: the Maine governor just vetoed a bill that would have overturned the state's auto Right to Repair law. Fantastic!

Thank you for being part of the movement shaping a more sustainable, repairable, human future. The world works better when things can be fixed — and better still when we fix them together.
Happy holidays from our workbench to yours! 🎄✨

Its the holiday rush -- Right to Repair legislation is being prefiled in several states. Missouri Rep Barry Hovis just filed his bill for R2R of farm, construction and forestry equipment. Florida Senator Truenow has filed R2R for mobile devies and AG equipment.
