Mouna Ouafik performing @StAnzaPoetry last night. Audience reviews - “thought provoking” and “attention grabbing” #stanza24

Leading Arabic poet Soukaina Habiballah barred from Scots festival by Home Office
heraldscotland.com/news/2416…
“To be dismissed as an illegal immigrant was an insulting & painful oversight of my artistic identity. During my career I’ve been an ambassador for Arab culture in the west. To people’s surprise, I continue to return to Morocco, My Homeland” - Soukaina Habiballah
“I have something to say to those who refused my visa. I didn’t tell my child I could no longer travel because of what you believe - that all his certificates did not convince you. That you believe I’d choose to stay in Britain over returning back to him." - Soukaina Habiballah
Delighted the Home Office has reversed their decision - 2 visa refusals - to enable Soukaina to share her work in Scotland! First stop is @stanzapoetry where she will be performing Nini ya Momo, exploring maternal ties, colonialism, and post-partum depression
We’re bringing Soukaina Habiballah and Mouna Ouafik @Mounita81 to #Scotland from #Morocco for their inaugural #poetry tour across the country with support from @CreativeScots @StAnzaPoetry @moniackmhor @scotrefcouncil. Read more on our website: bit.ly/49vLqrh #StAnza24
Also on tour with us is Mouna Ouafik - you can see her perform @StAnzaPoetry in March
