Want to reduce C0VID transmission in #schools this fall? Based on the new #ASHRAE Standards, this is the chart I'm recommending families and collective bargaining units use to lock in clean air. 1/15

No. Just no. We’re not going to call that sleep bulimia. We already call it “social jetlag,” “catch-up sleep,” “inconsistent sleep” etc etc. No need to grossly mislead about both how sleep and how eating disorders work at the same time.

“A century ago, a well-ventilated building was considered good medicine. But by the time Covid-19 arrived, our buildings could barely breathe. How did that happen?” EXCELLENT article by ⁦@EmilyAnthes⁩ on where we went wrong. nytimes.com/2023/06/17/healt…

Why #circadian & #sleep medicine matters, also for clinicians evaluating patients' CVD risk profile: 24-h & nighttime #bloodpressure were far more related to #cardiac 🫀 & all cause #mortality, compared with in-clinic blood pressure. Recent prospective n=59,124 study @TheLancet

Had a really fun time talking with Tamara from @arcascope about all things circadian, including babies wearing watches, hamster brain clocks, how light is like a drug, why drugs should be timed, and more!
We love chatting with fellow sleep experts. In our latest blog post, Dr. Gena Glickman (@GenaGlickman) takes a deep dive into #circadian rhythms and overall #sleep health. zurl.co/w1GI I

Repetitive patterns in large scale data does NOT imply there is a clock. Clocks are self-sustained, can be reset, and temperature compensated.

I made an iOS “Shortcut” that I call “sleep” — it simultaneously: sets brightness to 0, volume to 0, reduces the white point, turns on low power mode, turns on dark mode if it wasn’t on already and turns on color filters (so phone is grayscale only)

A quick reminder as folks are glorifying absurd hours again: 1. Sustained crunch mode leads to net negative productivity vs. 40 hr/wk 2. Working sleep deprived leaves you as mentally impaired as being drunk Working longer *feels* productive but it makes you worse at your job.

Freeways. Palm trees. Searing sunsets. That is how Los Angeles is depicted in pop culture. But how might L.A. be imagined by artificial intelligence? To avoid the tropes, we turned to literature, poetry and myth. latimes.com/projects/los-ang…
