Happy birthday to Paul Robeson — pro athlete, actor, singer, civil rights activist, and socialist — born on this day in 1898.
When he traveled abroad, Robeson made a point to sing for workers. Here he is performing ‘Joe Hill’ to Scottish miners in 1949.

Four pupils and four teachers from the school feature in our new book, one of many of their outstanding achievements.
They’re proving that classics can thrive in state schools ❤️
