Me, who never deleted a single .m file: I knew this day would come 😆
Peak memory is 300% (!) between UIKit/Objective-C and SwiftUI. 103MB vs. 35MB. UIKit/Objective-C is also twice as responsive. I don't have to tell you that for drawing, every millisecond counts. 34ms vs. 86ms Are the agents finally bringing back Objective-C? 😆

🏁 SwiftUI vs. UIKit 🏁 Build a native version of the chat screen in Campfire. One prompt, but this time with skills. SwiftUI got Apple's Xcode 27 skills, UIKit got ones I wrote. Winner is UIKit 🥳 (2-0) vs. SwiftUI. UIKit/Swift passed every test. UIKit/Objective-C was the fastest and used half the memory 🏎️ SwiftUI is still slow (5s of stutters!), even with Xcode's swift-ui-specialist skill. What would you like me to test for round 3? Code is in the repo (next comment).

Apps are the future, chapter 3. Apple's new HomeView has no App Store of its own. Third-party audio and video apps come from your iPhone, and Siri takes action across apps. New screen, same door: the app you already installed.
Introducing Apple HomeView! It recognizes up to six people, connects seamlessly across your Apple devices, and makes managing your home easy with Siri AI. All in a stunning, elegant design with privacy built right in.

In September I wrote that our dev tools are built for humans, not for agents. Anthropic just replaced git for exactly that reason 👀 They built Scion, their own source control, designed around agents that are always online.
New on our Engineering blog: Creating in-house source control. In May, we merged around 2,500 code changes per day. In September, we merged more than 30,000 per day. As a result, we became bottlenecked by developer infrastructure built for human (rather than agent) scale. Here, we share how we built a new version control system—and fully migrated our monorepo from git—in five months: anthropic.com/engineering/re…

In 1986, one factory preset of the Yamaha DX7 was on 61% of R&B number ones. It sounded great, then it dated every record that kept it. The 2026 design look will probably go the same way. Here's my new piece in @uxdesigncc: medium.com/user-experience-d…

Apps are the future, chapitre 2. L'IA peut lire votre site à la place de vos lecteurs. Elle ne peut pas ouvrir votre app. Sites d'info -23 %, applis -9 % (ACPM). L'app redevient essentielle en 2026.

Do all AI-generated apps look the same? I measured it on seven models from three makers. Within a category, yes: every model picks the same cliché. Navy and gold for the law firm, seven times out of seven. dev.to/hellomathieup/do-all-…

Assistants are starting to use mobile apps without opening them. You ask Siri to move a booking, no screen appears. So what's left to design there? Mostly words, and the rules around them. New piece in Bootcamp: medium.com/design-bootcamp/w…

We never left native at @GoodBarber. Went from old fashioned to early without changing a thing 😄
Start of a new trend and it’s once again Shopify being the trigger I have to say as someone who used to develop mobile apps (iOS, Android, even Windows Phone) I have always had a soft spot for native: it’s the one where you are in control of your destiny. It used to require more work - AI reduces this

Hum... are you sure we should stop treating them like humans? (joke aside I am 100% in line with your take)

Stop treating AI like a human, an agent is not a colleague. The problem isn't what we believe about the machine. It's what we hand it: pull requests, sprints, standups, all built for people. My take: dev.to/goodbarber/our-tools-…
