we were listening to a 90s/00s country playlist and faith hill sang, “it’s just not right, it’s just not fair…”
my little one said, “oh dear, we don’t talk like that.” 😂

happy feast of st. francis of assisi! may we all strive to imitate his life of service to others, humility, and desire for peace.

“all creatures of our God and King,
lift up your voice and with us sing
alleluia, alleluia!
o praise Him, o praise Him,
alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.”
the only thing you truly have control over in this world is how you direct your mind.
your health can fail, your friends and family can abandon you, a meteor can hit your house tomorrow, you can suddenly die in your sleep tonight. your mind is the only thing that’s truly yours.
this is why it is of the utmost importance that you take ownership of your mind and make it into a safe, happy place for you. it’s so tempting, sometimes even automatic, for us to police our thoughts as if anyone but God can see them.
we often tell ourselves that we’re not allowed to be proud of our accomplishments, to process difficult feelings in effective ways, or to explore unique ideas because that’s “silly” or “crazy.” says who? says people who don’t have to live in your head! if it produces good fruit in your life, there is absolutely no reason to put up guardrails that exclude that way of thinking just because they mimic the guardrails of social expectation that we’re so used to.
you are allowed to make your mind a beautiful, lovely place to be. you don’t have to perpetuate the uncharitable judgment of this world within your own head. you are allowed to and are capable of fertilizing the garden of your mind with the kindness you wish the world should be full of. nobody can stop you unless you allow them to.
weird thing that i love: when i call “baby” or “sweetie” in public and people who aren’t my little one turn to look at me.
you’re so loved that your subconscious has been rewired to assume that anyone speaking sweetly nearby must be talking to you? that’s beautiful. i love love.

Contrary to all the conservative posting on here, a mother's health and well being matters tremendously, you think you can push through a lot until you hit a health wall, and then you feel so clearly how much it mattered all along. People do not have an unlimited capacity. God's grace will not miraculously preserve your health and ability to do your duties. You must preserve your health. You must space your children intelligently. You do matter, even if it's only for your ability to care for others.
value tagging is one of the processes the brain uses to filter important information from the constant inputs it has to sort through. something is marked as relevant, so your brain calls attention to it when you see it rather than letting it fade into the background.
this is the reason why when you buy a new car you suddenly start to see it everywhere, or when you have baby fever it feels like everyone in the world is pregnant but you. it’s not that everyone ran out to buy new cars or there’s been another baby boom the statisticians haven’t noticed yet; it’s that your mind is more attuned to what you have told it is important.
value tagging is also the main mechanism behind how so many people report tangible, positive results after making vision boards, repeating positive affirmations, correcting negative self talk, or otherwise consciously changing their mindset.
in the same way, it’s why a negative person can experience the same thing as a positive person, but these two people will tell completely different stories when recounting the same events.
whether or not you believe that the “woo-woo” manifestation stuff has any element of spiritual truth to it (and it does; proverbs 18:20-21), this is a neurological fact that you can use to train your mind to be open to possibilities it otherwise wouldn’t be and bring your life more into alignment with your goals. you can’t open a door you can’t see.

The body keeps the score also means it remembers every kindness, every promise kept, every time you surrendered to the Divine
no, you don’t understand.
God created the entire universe with a single breath, but He didn’t neglect to show me pretty flowers on my evening walk when i asked. all of those galaxies are minuscule when compared to the enormity of His love for me.
Ask a believer what he wants from God and watch him shrink before your eyes. he wants his back to stop hurting. but this is a man who has never once considered that the thing he is addressing built galaxies and carved the inside of a seashell nobody would ever open. real faith is believing he can outdo your dreams so completely that your dreams become embarrassing
