Welcome to Houston! 😎 Cool people. 🤗 Warm hospitality.
🥵 HOT SUMMERS ❗️🥵
Please be weather aware this week. Temperatures will reach the high ‘90’s and the Heat Index will feel closer to 110 degrees. Hydrate and follow safety precautions from local public safety partners.

Don’t let the summer heat take you by surprise. As temperatures rise, taking precautions can make a big difference. Keep yourself and others safe by staying hydrated, limiting time outdoors during peak sun hours, and checking in on those who may be more vulnerable. ☀️

Floodwaters can be deeper and more dangerous than they appear. 🌧️⚠️ Just 6 inches of fast-moving water can knock over an adult, and 12 inches can carry away a small car. Never drive through flooded roads. Turn Around, Don’t Drown. 🚗💦 #StayWeatherAware

One of the many roles of our Homeless Outreach Team is partnering with @hcfcd Flood Control to safely manage sensitive situations involving the unhoused in high-risk flooding areas. In this instance, HOT provided resources, & helped relocate individuals out of harm’s way.

Today, my office attended the ribbon cutting for the White Oak Bayou Federal Flood Reduction Plan. This project was nearly 30 years in the making, and includes a beautiful greenspace for recreation in addition to the important flood mitigation components for our community along the White Oak Bayou. Thank you to @hcfcd, the Army Corps of Engineers, and all the elected officials who worked together on this project over the many years.
