The @nytimes reopened their Vietnam bureau two years ago.
This week’s Vietnam Innovators podcast with special co-host Michael Kokalari of VinaCapital, welcomes @damiencave, The New York Times’ Vietnam Bureau Chief, to share how Vietnam has changed in the eyes of the world.
We discuss why international attention toward the country is growing and what factors may continue to shape Vietnam’s development story in the years ahead.

Don’t it always seem to go, that you don’t know what you’ve got ‘til it’s gone?
Enjoyed this conversation with @haontran on economic development, national branding and industrial strategy … with apologies to Joni Mitchell.

I'm going to India for the first time in 14 years in August.
Last time I was there, I was 19 and interning at a company in Mumbai.
Crazy times.
First experience with returning to India was a bit strange.
Go to the visa website. And even though India is one of the top IT nations in the world, I can't even figure out where to click 'apply' for the visa.
Some of the buttons seemed to lead to it, but led to error pages.
I would so much enjoy helping to make a better website for this great country!!
Does anyone know why the new domestic terminal at Tan Son Nhat airport still uses bus transfers?
Isn’t the whole objective of new airport infrastructure to help support better travel experience?
What’s even more odd is that Vietnam Airlines planes will park up to the air bridge.
But then not even use them.
Someday hopefully 😆
Just closed our UOB Singapore corporate banking account after 10 years.
10 years as a customer! And poof. Gone.
Many wet-ink signatures, packages sent to their offices in Singapore, KYC-requests for anti-money laundering and fraud, waiting in-branch with the old school 'pull the number' request...
On the way out, the bank teller had the audacity to ask me for a 50 SGD permanent account closure fee, which I promptly said no to.
Surprisingly they waived it (thx UOB)
@vietcetera has switched to @airwallex for its multi-currency functionality and its seamless online dashboard.
Thanks to Pu Zong and Andrew Yi Hua Chim for their team's excellent service too!
So good!
Add this to our mix of tools at Vietcetera...the next generation of entrepreneurship is getting too easy...no excuses! 😂
Had the honor of hosting @nickclegg, Meta’s President of Global Affairs, during his visit to Vietnam for the Innovative Vietnam 2024 event and the 5th anniversary of the National Innovation Centre (NIC).
One highlight was our talk at Vietnam National University, where we discussed the future of AI in Vietnam and Meta’s role in supporting the country’s digital transformation.
Clegg shared exciting updates about Meta AI launching in Vietnamese and the company’s new Quest 3S manufacturing initiative, which will create 1,000 jobs by 2025.
It was a great exchange on how Vietnam can lead in AI and digital innovation.
Thank you for the confidence and opportunity to play host for his visit, Team Meta Vietnam!
