This legendary internet moment turns 18 this weekend. A man in a nightclub in Veliky Novgorod, Russia, complained about the music, then promptly danced his way into meme history as “Dimitri Finds Out.”

Somali representation in both Houses of Parliament and the House of Federation.
It was an honor to meet with our leaders representing the Somali Region in the House of Federation, led by H.E. President Mustafe Omer, along with Hon. Mubashir Dibad Raage, Speaker of the Somali Regional State Parliament.
We congratulated them on their renewed mandates and wished them success in their responsibilities. May Allah guide them, give them wisdom, and bless their service to our people

Eritrean soldiers drove through the northern Ethiopian town of Adigrat on Wednesday, two witnesses told Reuters, days after the Horn of Africa neighbours severed diplomatic ties, raising fears of outright conflict. reuters.com/world/africa/eri…

Eritrean troops are reportedly seen today in Edagahamus town, south of Adigrat, #Tigray, crossing into Ethiopian territory.
This follows longstanding allegations of Eritrean support for the #TPLF through the “Tsimido” alliance. Today’s footage would provide further evidence of Eritrean direct involvement in the conflict and a serious violation of Ethiopia’s sovereignty.
The international community should strongly condemn such act of aggression and hold the #Eritrean regime accountable for violating Ethiopia’s territorial integrity.

Several credible reports (including AFP and DW) confirm that Eritrean forces are not only inside #Ethiopia but also expanding in northern and central Tigray, digging trenches and more.
This is a dangerous escalation we have warned about for some time. In its attempt to create strategic depth in Ethiopia, the #Eritrean government is making Ethio-Eritrea war a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Federal forces entered Mekelle, the regional capital this afternoon. The TPLF leadership had already left the city in the past days.
That does not necessarily herald the end of the crisis in Tigray. What follows will need prudence and magnanimity.
Three things will matter. avoid triumphalism, and keep strict discipline among federal forces and their allies. Do not linger in cities and towns; concentrate troops on major infrastructure and borders, and use quick local elections as a bridge to a proper vote. And keep a channel open for dialogue and mediation with members of the TPLF.

After running on world record pace for 40km, Tigst Assefa was hit by an injury in the closing kilometres of the @berlinmarathonE.
Visibly limping to the line, she still manages to clock a big PB and third-fastest marathon in history with 2:11:04 💪

After around 3 years and 5 months, the Botley Road in #Oxford has finally reopened. Just to put those 1,258 closure days into perspective…
🚢 The Titanic was built in around 3 years.
🗼 The Eiffel Tower was built in just 2 years, 2 months and 5 days.
🏙️ The Empire State Building took little more than a year to build.
🇬🇧 During the closure we’ve had 3 different Prime Ministers.
🎓 You could have started and completed a three-year university degree while Botley Road was closed.
📅 That's more than 30,000 hours of closure and disruption for residents, businesses and commuters.
Meanwhile, the wider Oxford Station project now stands at £237.4 million up from the original £161m cost. Of course these are very different projects, but the comparisons put into perspective the extraordinary length of this closure.
It’s no wonder we have major infrastructure challenges in this country when project budgets are allowed to balloon and we see delay after delay. We need to get much better at delivering major infrastructure on time and with proper control of taxpayers’ money.
