There’s a sentence engraved on the side of this gun:
Honor and Restore the Lives of Veterans.
Six words.
Cut into steel.
I’ve handled plenty of commemorative guns before.
Special editions.
Anniversary models.
Words on a slide because they photograph well.
But this one hit different.
This is the Kimber 1911 DS Warrior Boot Campaign edition.
And Kimber didn’t put that message on a wall hanger.
They put it on a double stack 1911 that actually begs to be shot.
Right around $1,000.
Seventeen rounds in the mag.
A twenty-round mag in the box.
Old-school 1911 silhouette with a modern grip module.
But the gun is not the real reason this matters.
Boot Campaign started in 2009 with five women in Texas who read Lone Survivor and decided they couldn’t just close the book and go back to their lives.
Now they help veterans dealing with PTSD, traumatic brain injury, insomnia, chronic pain, and the things that follow people home from war.
And this is the number I can’t shake:
In 2025, 97 percent of veterans who went through their Health and Wellness program no longer qualified for a PTSD diagnosis.
Ninety-seven percent.
That’s not awareness.
That’s not a ribbon on a bumper.
That’s a man getting his life back.
So yeah, you were probably going to buy another gun this year anyway.
The question is whether that money does anything on its way out the door.
Would you buy a gun knowing part of it helps fund veteran recovery?
Drop your answer below.

It’s a good thing Satoshi thought otherwise.

Bitcoin is not constrained to SHA-256 for Proof-of-work algorithm. Blake2b is live today and replaced SHA-256 as the PoW algorithm.

We keep seeing requests for BLAKE2b miners. Is this something you’d want?
If this post gets enough positive engagement, we’ll look into building BLAKE2b home miners.

I said Bitcoin was money and nothing else.
I said the miners weren’t in control.
I said Bitcoin was decentralized.
I said your node matters.
I was wrong and I apologize.

Tldr: miners can prevent theft by disabling RBF as thieves require it when stealing from certain coldcard users.
Doing so requires Knots as Core removed the option to disable RBF in version 29 and 28 is too old for miners to realiastically use.

i have a new years resolution too. in 2026 i'm gonna start selling #bitcoin for real.
time to "scale out" so that my exposure match my level of conviction (which was decimated the past ~5 years). got to de-lever too, math stopped working in my favor. it was certainly a ride.

Overt reduction in the quality of the open source monetary network. And no, no BS legal positivism inferred to (cared about here), just action-based jurisprudence approach.

El Salvador will send 3 humanitarian aid planes to Jamaica tomorrow.
More than 300 rescuers will take part in this mission, and we will send over 50 tons of supplies to support those affected by the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa.

The problem with arbitrary data tolerance is that it doesn't contribute to Bitcoin being money.
It's like promoting the electrical conductivity of gold as a reason for it to be money.
You might think that's not so bad but...
The problem it causes, having arbitrary data, is subjectivity, and various attacks - it's easier to stand for none of it, and remain objectively supporting Bitcoin as money.
You don't need to define what spam is - it's a subset of arbitrary data.
You don't need to defend Bitcoin being a free speech platform (it's not), and explain why CSAM can't be blocked - it's a subset of arbitrary data.
You don't need to care that not all arbitrary data can't be stopped - your principles are what guides you, and with the right principles, if people concur, consensus is easy to achieve.
Right now, we're fractured, because people who don't want spam feel like they have to allow it because it's hard to define (and because shitcoiners and fiat maxis are disguising themselves as one of us, muddying the waters, looking at Lopp and others).
I'm saying this is unnecessary. Just be against arbitrary data; it's not part of Bitcoin's purpose.
If you desire extra "nice to have" features from arbitrary data, in addition to Bitcoin's pure monetary features, then you have to accept spam and CSAM, and unwanted additional attacks, and also damaging infighting.

Good on you @jackmallers. You are spot on.
A quote from Albert Einstein.
‘You can’t fix a problem from the same place it was created’.
Most people are trying to fix the system from inside it.
BITCOIN is outside of the system. It’s as simple as that.
