Profoundly awesome thing for computational science:
You can automatically get chi-squared contours with jax and inverting the Fisher matrix, with ONE function evaluation.

Here is a paper explaining Fisher matrices.

In case you haven't heard yet, I'm running for Mayor of Bremerton! I've been humbled by so many asking me to do so, and the support I've gotten from friends, family, neighbors, and so many current and former public servants in our city.

A colleague inspired me to explore how programming languages have evolved in astronomy, especially since we've been curating astronomical literature.
Fascinating.

If there's a Uri-like storm this winter, outages would be less severe bc we have more solar + storage & weatherization of power plants is better but we'd still have outages bc we haven't made much progress on gas supply weatherization or energy efficiency.

The graphic below is from the @FastCompany article @GovAbbott cited. Truly extraordinary what is happening here, particularly with the solar and storage buildout. One out of every 14 jobs posted in Texas this summer was in clean energy. #txlege #txenergy #energytwitter
Texas energy powers our homes, our businesses, and our future.
Texas is leading the way with our all-of-the-above energy strategy, with more solar and wind jobs than any other state.
Texas is also #1 for wind energy and #1 for solar energy.

The UK is one of a handful of countries on track to meet aggressive emissions reduction goals (at least if one extrapolates from recent rates of decarbonization). How has climate mitigation matinained such bipartisan continuity in the UK? Asking for some friends across the Pond...
The UK's 2035 climate pledge, announced at #COP29 yesterday, is to cut emissions to 81% below 1990 levels by 2035
Here's how that looks in context…
