5am on patrol, diligently spot a suspicious person, 3 uniformed Gardaí (who dont carry firearms), one only a trainee, end up in a struggle with a realistic firearm pointed at them.

This is a disgrace.
The GRA represents the front line Gardaí out doing day to day policing, for one of their elected reps to be under a disciplinary investigation for raising issues that affect his members is wrong.

“The figures come just weeks before Ireland takes over the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union on July 1.”
As I’ve said before these CSO earnings figures are published every quarter, they didn’t just fall out of the sky today, everyone in Government and the media knows that. It’s yet another strategically‑placed ‘Garda pay’ piece landing at the exact moment we are in open disagreement on a myriad of issues including that members are still awaiting the 1% pay rise due on the 1st September 2025. This wont be lost on frontline members. The public understand the reality of the job and the pressures coming with the EU Presidency, they won’t be easily swayed by selective headlines.
Last week a was taken video of @metpoliceuk Constables kicking a suspect in the head. He had just allegedly stabbed two people and was still armed, some people commented it was excessive force. To give you an idea of how dangerous a knife is watch this youtu.be/t69XMB-PINM?si=pzPU…
At the GRA Conference where two urgent motions seeking an independent appeals process for suspensions and a fully public enquiry after the travesty of the prosecutions of members. A very powerful statement by one of the Limerick reps.

“These prosecutions were shameful and a stain on our organisation.” - Alan O’Donnell, Limerick GRA member.
Still not a price to get excited over but has dropped from 2.129 two days ago, let's hope it can continue going that direction 🤞
But if anything goes wrong, even if the Garda isnt at fault, they are still the one before the court, risking loss of their own licence, their job and possibly their liberty.
